I am really new to all of this and so may not use the correct word to describe my problem.

When I try to make a video in Premier 9.0 I can transfer the video from my iphone (*.mov files) but when I play them I can hear the audio but not see the video. Why not?

I am trying to export from Premiere Pro CS5 to .mov and it works, but it
converts a 50MB .mts original to the final export of about 4GB!! I have
tweaked the settings a lot and cannot get any reasonable file sizes.
Does anyone use Premiere Pro CS5 and know the best settings to get the
best quality .mov file?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I use ubuntu 11.04 (linux) and cant find any software supporting MOV file (canon S95). I remember that I had same problem some time ago when using windows platform.

I'll be using software for editing diving movies, so I need something powerful but not too complicated... I find iMovie, which accepts MOV file, simple and reliable for this kind of work... Unfortunately, cant use iMovie on Ubuntu...

Need some help!! I've been looking around for some time but no success...

Thanks in advance!!

This problem is slowly being cracked. I have valuable stuff that I can process but as you can see from the forums it's no easy task.

JVC .MOD files straight from JVC Everio are changed by well known file extension trick and as pointed out these do not have all necessary file atributes to be further processed especially by Premiere but they do for Flash 8 Pro. and .flv files are straightforward to make from converted .MOD to .mpg files.

To edit the trick is to import the .mpg files into Premiere6 & 6+ but NOT TO PLAY THEM then drag to Time line and Export Timeline as Quicktime format and fully editable .mov files can be re-imported for any editing process you need.

When I am fully satisfied and have documented procedure I'll post it If any one is interesed

Most of the time I export to FLV/FL4V in PP-CS4 and that works pretty well. Even so there are so many options in the preset category that I keep trying different ones. I upload to TubeMogul.com that does some transcoding and crossposting to a variety of server sites, so I don't need to worry much about the specifics.

But - I'm not really happy with the quality of the viewing on some of the sites.

Question 1 - is there a preferred/best Format/Preset for Youtube HD?

Question 2 - I've been asked to provide H.264 with .MOV container. I can't seem to find an option for .MOV output. There are several iPod output presets, but nothing that creates a .MOV file. They all create .mp4 extensions.

Confused....

Hi there. I'm using Premiere Pro v7.0
I've taken a few clips that are .mov files. In quicktime the videos look beautiful and display at full frame rate. However, in Premiere, instead of displaying or saving at the correct frame rate of 29.97, it thinks the frame rate is 2.99 fps. The strange thing is is that the duration of the video is correct, so if I try to manually adjust the frame rate with the 'Interpret Footage' it shortens the duration of the clip proportionally. Another odd thing is that Premiere shows the video track frame rate to be 29.97 in the clip properties but then assigns a frame rate of 2.99 for the whole thing. Here's what it shows for one of them:

Type: QuickTime Movie
File Size: 151.08MB
Image Size: 848x480

Pixel Depth: 24
Frame Rate: 2.99
Audio 44100 Hz - 16 bit - Mono
Total Duration: 00;04;08;15
Average Date Rate: 622.55KB / second
Pixel Aspect Ration: 1.000

Quick Time Details:
Move contains 1 video track(s), 1 audio track(s) and 0 timecode track(s)

Video:
This movie appears to have DROPPED FRAMES.
There is 1 frame with a duration of 64/2997ths.
There are 7449 frames with a duration of 1/29.97th.

Video track 1:
Duration is 00;04;08;15
Average frame rate is 29.97 fps

Video track 1 contains 1 type(s) of video data:

Video data block #1:
Frame size = 848 x 480
Compressor =
Quality = Least (1.00)

Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks!
