Hi guys, I am a new chap here and having some issues importing my media on Premier. A bit of background I am using Mac 10.7.2 and Adobe Premier 5. Shot my media on a JVC GY-HM100U and it was ingested by copying the whole folder into my computer. My video is 1080 60i the .xml file says:

dataFormat="xdvb"

videoCodec="MPEG2_VBR35M_1920_1080_60I_MP@HL" ch="STEREO_2CH"

audioCodec="LPCM16_48K"

Neither Premier nor imovie can't open the media and the error I get is that the codec is missing. I tried to convert my media using the Video Converter by iSkysoft but the quality decreased exponentially. I also tried Calibrated{Q} XD Decode, but it won't play in real time in Premier and looks choppy.

Went and downloaded the JVC HD pro clip manager but ironically it doesn't recognize the media either and the error is that is not a m4p file. JVC site and other reviews say that there is no need to wrap or transcode and the media formats are compatible with Mac which is false or I am missing something.

Does anyone have any advice how to get around this issue? Your thoughts would be highly appreciated!

Hello Fellow Videomakers!

I am in the process of setting up my video editing suite and have just purchased a Hauppauge Computer Works Colossus video capture card for my main system.

Today I connected my JVC BR-S611U S-VHS deck to the card directly via the composite input and sound via XLR to RCA cables. The video captures fine, however the sound is WAY TOO HOT.

It doesn't seem to matter if you reduce the volume, the distortion is still ever-present in the captured video. I have a feeling that this may be due to the XLR to RCA conversion and not being "line level" or balanced perhaps.

There are future plans (very near future in fact) to get an audio mixer to handle my many sources for the capture device, but I would love to figure out the audio issue and how it might be solved. Again the VCR is a JVC BR-S611U, and so if anyone has experience with these decks and can offer what I may be missing on the audio output, this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you,

Hi,

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I have pinnacle 14HD ultimate studio and whenever I connect my camcorder (recorded in either UXP or XP) it finds the files (.MTS) and the resulting quality is pixelated and looks poor. I'm using the USB connector and this seems to be if I import directly into pinnacle or copy the files to my PC 1st by essentially using the camcorder as an external hard drive and copying and pasting them into a file on the pc.

Is it due to the usb connector, my video card (which is HD compatible) or something else I'm missing?

I'm sure I have the right camcorder and software for HD recording and editing but the quality is poor.

Hoping someone can cast some light on this for me!

Thanks

I'd like to experiment with an ext mic for my GZ-MS100U...I understand that it may be possible to drive an audio in signal through the A/V jack.....anyone try this? I think the built-in is a condenser mic, so would a small preamp be needed with an external? I tried opening the unit up to add a jack but there's just no room in this tightly packed cam...

Hi,

I'm about to buy a GY HM100, so I'm also looking which SDHC cards to use. I know class 6 is the mininum, but will class 10 also work? Also, I found a website where they sell class 1 HD cards. Would these work?

Second; what bitrate should the cards have? I know the camera can go up to 35Mbit/s, which I assume, is when it records in 1080p. So the cards should also have a minimum of 35Mb/s?

If there are users here who can share there experience with this camera and these SDHC-cards, that would be great.

Thanks,

I just signed up on Videomaker today and wanted to start out with a forum solely for discussing the JVC GY-HM750U. I just purchased this camera not too long ago and am working to get a better understanding of ALL of the features of this camera. I will primarily shoot music videos and non-profit events. Does anyone out there own this camera? I have searched the web for a tutorial on the use of this camera as well as when and when not to use many of its cool features such as the preset cinema mode. Any comments, suggestions, stories, questions and discussions regarding the newest JVC ProHD camera would be appreciated.

Bought an awesome camera--JVC HD Memory Card Camera Recorder Model #GY-HM100U

I have Windows. I have downloaded every program recommended--including PowerDirectorDelue 8, Quicktime 7 and Quicktime 7 Pro, DivX among many others.

We haved tried recording in MOV and MP4. We have tried it on 3 different computers.

My husband and I have researched online for days, but can't open the files--all I can get is audio.

Is it possible JVC is not compatible with Windows? Will it only work with Mac and Final Cut Pro?

Does anyone know the secret to this mystery?

Thanks in advance!

This problem is slowly being cracked. I have valuable stuff that I can process but as you can see from the forums it's no easy task.

JVC .MOD files straight from JVC Everio are changed by well known file extension trick and as pointed out these do not have all necessary file atributes to be further processed especially by Premiere but they do for Flash 8 Pro. and .flv files are straightforward to make from converted .MOD to .mpg files.

To edit the trick is to import the .mpg files into Premiere6 & 6+ but NOT TO PLAY THEM then drag to Time line and Export Timeline as Quicktime format and fully editable .mov files can be re-imported for any editing process you need.

When I am fully satisfied and have documented procedure I'll post it If any one is interesed

Yup, they are almost impossible to find, and I'm finally forced to let my own little-used one go. Quite possibly the finest VCR ever made for the home market, and better than most pro units too. Hoping someone here who still appreciates it will take it in and give it a good home. Just listed it on E-bay tonight on a 7 day auction. No reserve price, 99cents starting bid, $599 buy it now price if you absolutely don't want to risk losing it in a hot bidding war near the end of the week. Just search on e-bay for HR-S10000U or use this link:

Hi guys/girls

I recently borrowed my sisters JVC HD video recorder and took it with me for a trip to the zoo, anyway

When i got home I plugged it into my PC (Windows XP) i accidentally hit the record button, i quickly realised and pressed stop and thought nothing of it. once i transferred all the files to my PC (.mod and .moi). i started to play some of the files . (50 in total). The first 22 are fine. When i play the 23rd video it plays fine until the last minute, this is when it plays the 1 second that i accidentally recorded prior to transferring the files.

Now every other video file after that plays that 1 second clip however they have all kept their correct file size. (Some of the clips should go for about 10 minutes and the file size is 957MB)

I have tried using a JVC rebuilder i found and it kind of worked, however, the screen is black and the sound is that 1 second clip repeating it self but it does seem to play for the correct amount of time.

I noticed when viewing the clips on the camera the thumbnail for each clip that is now 'broken' was a question mark.

Sorry if this is confusing ask any questions and ill try to answer them.

I'm currently in the market for a good, realatively inexpensive, non-tape based camcorder made by JVC. I still think that JVC was, and still is, the more professional option as far as reliability.

My Sony HDR-HC1 has recently given me problems. I bought it with the screen not working (common problem), figuring that I wouldn't have to use it. This came some bit of a problem trying to control audio level (operates by touch screen)Â in attachment with the Juicedlink. Tapes are also the strongest contender of humidity - at least that's the way it was with my Sony. I am now not able to close the tape compartment.

Is there any JVC camcorder in great supplement to an HM400 step up - just a little more upscale?

(Great camcorder, but min lux < 9 would be preferable) - budget's about $750

Hello all,

I recently purchased a JVC GR-HD1 through eBay. The camera itself is in pristine condition, somehow, and works perfectly. My only problem is that I didn't get all the usual accessories one would get normally. Most of the accessories aren't really a concern for me, I can find batteries and chargers for it easily. My main concern is that I don't have an AC cable so I can't plug into a wall for power. Now I can buy a bunch of extra batteries and an extra charger to keep them charged but that can get kind of heavy. Anyone out there know where I could get an accessory pack for the JVC GR-HD1 or at the very least an AC cable so I can plug into a wall?

Thanks! (b'-')b

Hi

I need a professional video camera for making a wedding, documentary and several shorts films.
I'm clueless when it comes to tech. I'd like to spend between $4,000 and $6 0000 but can spend a little more if it's absolutely necessary.

From what I've read, I think I want a Flash base camera with low light capabilties and able to tackle flashes in wedding.

Idealy if there`s an HD-SDI out for multicam operation it will be great. I dont really care about the form factor (handheld or shoulder)

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Hi

I am looking for an intervalometer for the JVC everio camcorder.
I have been looking on the video effect - Time Lapse. And since i only have a regular digital video camera, i wanted to buy this accesory, since it isn't an option in the menu bar.

In beforehand thanks

Hello guys,

A quick question here thts been worrying me..

Does an HD cam also do standard definition? The thing is, its my first handycam, and I'm getting an HD Camera from JVC which supports recording in 1080i but am a bit wary to buy it since we don't have an HDTV yet...so can I record in a format which will work on my 29" LG SD TV?

This is the camera I am going in for:

http://camcorder.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028148&pathId=141&page=10

Could you take a dekko at the specs sheet and let me know?

Help please! I own a JVC GR-D20EK Mini-DV camcorder and recently had a message come up when I turn it on. It says" E01 Unit in Safeguard Mode Remove and Reattach Battery" I have done this to no avail. The tape is also still inside. Does anyone know how I could overcome this problem or the choices I have.

I have some questions about source editing for DVD creation using Everio .mod files as the source. I currently film for a halau in my area using a JVC GZ-MG330 camcorder. Now, I realize that the source I'm pulling from the Everio, even on highest settings, are not going to be of the best quality but as of this time it's all I've got to work with.

Onto my questions -> I've tried various different programs and techniques for editing my videos and authoring them to DVD and I keep coming back to the TMPGEnc suite of programs as coming out with the best quality, for me at least. I've worked with the videos using PowerDirector and PowerCinema which come with it, and I've also tried Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier. Believe it or not, the Cyberlink solutions came out with some decent looking video output to the DVDs. At this time what I'm doing is using MPEG Streamclip to convert the video to a compliant MPEG format and make my cuts then using the TMPGEnc tools to tweak and then finally author the DVD.

Is there any way I can make my edits any easier, without having to re-encode and lose quality from an already finicky source? I'm mainly either cutting a full performance video into individual songs, taking out camera shifts and such between songs during the cutting process, or combining multiple song footage into 1 file so that I then can create the chapter breaks in the authoring software.

TMPGEnc has so far given me the best results, and it's somewhat frustrating because I will spend an unbelievably long time working with a new piece of software, because I'm stubborn and just 'KNOW' there has to be an easier/faster way, and then the result comes out of such low quality that I am unwilling to let it out of my hands so I go back with TMPGEnc and make short work of it to finish it out for production.

Now, I do this work for the halau for free, my wife dances and teaches hula for them and I video performances for their teaching purposes and for the families of some of the dancers. But even though I perform this service gratis, I still have some pride. I am going to be upgrading to a better camera, but for now this is the only one I have.

Thanks for any assistance that you can provide.
