Hi everyone,

I have been looking
for a position as an intern or editor’s assistant in Los Angeles for about 3
years now, since I graduated from college with a degree in Media Arts, and I’m
starting to run out of ideas and become frustrated as to why nobody will hire
me. As far as experience goes, I have worked
at two tv stations and on the behind the scenes featurette of a large scale
film. I know Final Cut, Premiere, After
Effects and Photoshop, and spent about 2k this year taking an AVID course and
getting an AVID technical certification. I have a subscription to
Media-match.com and get job alerts sent to my email. I’ve been applying to
about 15 online jobs a week but I never get any responses. Lately I have been
calling post-houses off LA411.com and cold calling for basic internships in order to
learn a little more and just get my foot in so I can start on the ground floor
of a company and grow with the position. I have offered to work for free for a trial
period at all the places I’ve called…After about 2 months, I’ve had one
interview but no call back, and most of the people I talk to seem to just be either
incredibly flaky, or just giving me the run around. I also have a demo reel.... http://www.vimeo.com/17581129, but
after all the positions I’ve applied to it only has 8 views?

Is there something I am doing wrong or missing?

How am I supposed to break into this industry if I don’t
know anybody and nobody will take a chance on me?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

-Jesse

Hi

I am a wedding videographer based out of NJ and need to get my videos edited.

I shoot in 1080iHD and can send the footage in memory cards. You would need to edit them and send them back to me on a dvd and the same card.

My format is AVCHD. You will need the latest version software that supports AVCHD
( cs4, vegas 9, pinnacle 12 etc)

Please reply with your hardware / software setup, rate and if possible links to your work.

Thanks
Abhra

I work for a non-profit, so we figured we are free to use copyrighted music in our Fire safety puppet shows (educational use, etc.).

Now, I'm making a highlight video to both thank last year's sponsors, and rope in new ones for this year. The music in the shows (which means it's in the video too) include "Bye, Bye, Bye" by N'Sync(?) and "Who Let the Dogs Out?"

QUESTION: Can I use this highlight video as a demo reel for future jobs?

NOTE: I'll be studying this on my own too.

I am in the process of building a network of people creating videos for the tourism industry, so they can finance their passion for film and travel. I'm also hoping as more people do this it will eventually become the standard for tourism companies in the same way websites have become the norm, and that means income for people like us, who love travel and film.Â

That's why I wrote a manual so people can become familiar with tourism marketing and producing effective promotional holiday videos that sell more holidays, and all of the elements and the structure of promo videos.

After reading the manual you may then want to create a couple of videos using local operators and accommodations and once you have a couple of sample videos and a showreel for tourism we may then list you on our database for tourism companies and will endeavor to send some work your way or you can start contacting tourism companies yourself  as I have also included a section on how to sell to companies and a list of contacts for interested companies.

Please have a look at http://www.filmingholidays.com for more information and let me know what your thoughts are.

thanks
