I am trying to use my Canon EOS T2i as a webcam so I can start doing small live web streams of various activities: (LED lights & Light Shows *youtube light show if you don't know*)

I've tried using this technique:Â http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFgK4gitrgY

But, there was way too much chop in the frame rate.

Im also trying to use UStream.com as my host.
I have various computers to work from Mac&PC.

What I am looking for is:
Technical specs that are best for live webstreaming for both Camera & Computer system
Recommended Software & Software settings
Recommended Techniques (HDMI vs USB?/Wireless Possiblity?/Etc...)

Also I would like to know if its possible to make the camera wireless?
I've used: http://www.amazon.com/Gefen-Wireless-USB-2-0-Extender/dp/B0017H52JO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1310060016&sr=8-1

To attempt to make it wireless. Works but ALOT of chop in the video quality and Lag using the Streaming technique above.

If you need to know my computer specs. I'll be happy to post those if requested

With the influx of camera phones, social networking sites and a whole horde of other geeky crap that allows us to post our images online or send them via 'the magic satellite beams', one immutable law has come forth. 'Whatever goes on the 'Net Stays on the 'Net'. Hopefully all of the knuckleheads who 'lemming like' say to themselves, 'This will just be private between me and 'X'' Yeah 'X' meaning the 'unknown number' used in advanced mathematics. Here's yet another story of a young woman who 'Thought' (not necessarily the operative word) that a private photo sent to her deployed husband via an app on her iPhone would just be between them. She was wrong.

iPhone photo leaked to web

Bottom line (no pun intended) is; if you don't want to share something between you and the millions of 'huddled masses' (in front of their computers that is) DON'T PUT IT ONLINE OR SEND IT VIA CELL PHONE!

Aspyrider on "Videomaker on Roku: A Message To Videomaker"

In July 2009 I received a Roku Box for my Birthday, since then I have fallen in love with the ability to stream Netflix and all the channels they offer direct to my TV.

Roku now has the ability to set up a channel and have your own programming added so viewers can watch. There is nothing like being able to watch internet shows on an actual TV rather than sitting in front of my PC. Yes you can hook a PC to a TV but this is easier and simple. See my article on ITV about the growing online streaming industry and how it affects viewers.

So, I would like to ask Videomaker to add their content of fantastic videos, tutorials and programming to a channel on Roku! You can set it up here in the development section.

Imagine being able to watch Videomaker on TV! It's possible now, and with more units available to do the same, XBox, Boxee, etc., this is a growing trend with hundreds of thousands of viewers already jacking in the internet to their television sets.

So, what about it Videomaker? Are you game? Will you accept the challenge to create your own TV station and stream your quality programming on Roku? I hope you will and I know many others will enjoy the show!

Other alternatives would be to join Mediafly, BlipTV or another channel already there. But I think Videomaker deserves to have their own station on the net.

So there you have it. Videomaker, I want to watch YOU on TV where you belong! What say ye?

Anyone who's ever trawled through the numerous numbers of videos on YouTube and other video sharing sites knows that there's lots of 'questionable' material out there. Well, if the FCC has it's way not only will it govern the traditional broadcast airwaves, but cable, satellite and the 'Net will fall under its jurisdiction. All this (no pun intended) 'hinges' on the old case of Janet Jackson's 'Wardrobe Malfunction' during the Halftime Show for Superbowl XXXVIII. Here's an article by John Eggerton explaining what's at stake:

http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/450051-What_Janet_Jackson_Reveals_About_Broadcasting.php

This is a very important decision pending because many independent and amateur filmmakers have turned exclusively to the internet for distribution of their work. Though many sharing sites do a fair job of policing the videos submitted, still there's a great deal of room for filmmakers to get hammered by the FCC should they be allowed to become involved with overseeing the net.

Let me know what you think.

I really am not sure anyone knows the answer to the following; and those that do, do not seem to be giving up the info.

I want to create/build a professional Internet TV Streaming Studio. So far, I have been using an Canon HV30 (through Firewire - it is awful and extremely unstable). I am also using an Alesis Audio Mixer, relatively fair microphones, and fair to good lighting.

I want to use multiple cameras plugged into either a video switcher/mixer or video capture cards on computer. Problem is NO ONE - not the retail stores, not the film stores, not the video stores can tell me how to do this professionally, or they are trying to hoodwink me out 10s of thousands of dollars, which I know there are less expensive solutions. For example, last guy tried to sell me a $50k plus each camera; and $30k video mixer.

Is there anyone out there that will share the information to build a small three camera studio, capable of live internet streaming, and does not use firewire?

Thank you in advance to the knowledgeable person who can rise to the occasion and give up this data.

 Hi,

I'm looking to buy cams for my company and thought I'd ask you guys for some advice. Â We've been doing some video coverage filming the events that we run and we need to up our game a little. Â The videos are for internet upload so the end result will be fairly low resolution. Â What is important however is turnaround time from editing to upload. Â We have found that, with uploading video and then touchy editing software (Pinnacle Studio), our turnaround time is way too slow. Â Were going to invest in new software (probably Adobe premiere CS4 - We are PC based operation) and new equipment.

Is there a broadcast/good quality camera that also support a quicker download facility for the raw data?

You help would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Here is an excerpt from a recent eNewsletter I put out. Thought it might be of interest to readers here...

Digital Delivery Vs Physical DVD Products
If you haven't already, you soon will face the decision to either deliver your how-to and special interest videos as physical DVDs, or as digital download or streaming products.

According to just about every media guru, electronics industry analyst, streaming media industry rep, or techno teenager, the days of physical media products are numbered. The DVD is so passe after all!

Passe the DVD may be, but reality is that digital download or streaming media is full of pitfalls.

Here is a partial list of the pros and cons of the two product delivery methods as I see them. With a little thought, I'm sure you could substantially add to this list...

Read the rest of this article and others here:
