One thing I am trying to understand is how to get better slow motion footage. From what I hear it seems people shoot at a higher frame rate and then import the footage at a lesser one. Is that true? If so, how do you do that in Final Cut Pro? Example shooting at 60p and then bringing into 24p. Outside of Final Cut Pro, is there any other software you need to have to accomplish this effect? Can someone please explain this?

I'm thinking of getting a DSLR to use for shooting timelapse projects as well as high quality stills. I currently am using the Panasonic HMC 150. I'd like to purchase one that has a similar video look to the HMC 150. Any ideas?

I have been shooting stuff with my HMC150 and love the picture. I currently have a UV filter, a polarizer and a warming filter from Tiffen.

What are your thoughts about diffusion filters and Soft/FX filters (any brand)? Are they useful or necessary on this camera? If you have some experience, can you please contribute a few tips about which filters to use in order to achieve particular "looks"?

Any advice on software filters is also welcome. Thanks!

Hey all,

I am new and I just got an HMC 150. I have been trying to work on rack focusing on it and having trouble. What do you guys recommend? Do I need to get a better lens? I have been trying to keep my subject far from the background and keeping a good distance between myself and subject. Any tips?

Hi, I have a few questions about the HMC-150.

1. The manual indicates that it is possible to upload some metadata to the camera using a file on an SD card. The metadata is incorporated into the recorded clips. So far, so good but how does one create the metadata? Is there a software application which does this? The manual is curiously reticent about this. It seems to be badly translated from Japanese; full of grammatical errors.

2. Is there an option to display a rule-of-thirds grid on the LCD/viewfinder? I could not find anything in the manual.

3. There are some menu options for storing a "User File". What settings are stored in the user file?

Thanks!

Hello! I've been working on this short for several months now. We debuted the short at the Capitol Theater in Olympia WA yesterday to a crowd of about 150 and rave reviews. We sold all the DVD's we brought, and everyone had a great time.

The short has strong language - please be aware. I'd love for anyone to watch it and give any feedback you like. The good and the bad are just as crucial to help me grow as a filmmaker.

The Van Job was shot with a Panasonic HMC-150 and a Canon XH-A1. Mostly the Panasonic though...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ATOnpH22J8

Let me know what you think!!!

Panasonic has given Videomaker the scoop on the HMC-150, and we thought it would be selfish to keep it to ourselves. So we're going to be doing a live review of the first HMC-150 in the USA on Tuesday August 19th, at 11am pacific / 2pm eastern.

We're taking it out for a test drive this week, and will report our impressions live at http://www.videomaker.com/live.

There will be footage from the HMC-150 to download, and the chat room will be active, so if you have a question about the HMC-150's functions or features, join the live show and we'll try to answer it for you right there.

Hope to see you at the show,

John Burkhart
Editor-in-Chief
Videomaker Magazine

P.S. If you can't make the live show, the review will be looping on our channel afterwords at: videomaker.com/live
