Though I've had my GL1 for 10 years, I have never tried to import a still image saved on MiniDV. I have an old tape in which I took several stills during the video, and I'd like to import them. Now, I am not sure how it's done. Of course I know how to find the stills with the search select, but then what? iPhoto doesn't recognize the Canon as a device. I already imported all the video into iMovie, and I can see my "freeze frame" but the playback image is crappy quality so I doubt I can do anything with that. What am I missing here?

Hello,

Forgive my amateurish post. However I am a beginner in need of
help. I have access to both a Sony GL1 camcorder and also a small
JVC GZ-HD3 HD camcorder. I'm attempting to make a dramatic short
that will be uploaded to the internet (youtube, openfilm, etc) and also
burned to dvd. To all of you with intermediate - Professional
experience, (all other nuances, lighting, etc) which camcorder would
you use (based off of the cameras stats/reputations if any)...

Thanks in advance,

I was shooting my bros football game and these blue bars would intermittently come down the screen. The would come and go i switched tapes but it still continued to happen. What are they and what do i do to get rid of them?
example:http://web.me.com/cltraylor/Site/Movie.html

I've noticed that when I replay the tape I shot through the camera (Canon GL1) it's not that uncommon to find that the images are broken up, sometimes there are alternate black bars across the images. Also, it's asked me to remove tape without any apparent reason. It's happened a few times. I'm wondering what's going on.

I noticed that on B&H Photo there are a bunch of used XL-1's for sale. I am feel pretty good about buying something used from B&H, and I was thinking of getting one as a backup camera. The question I have is would you guys get a used XL-1 for a backup camera? Or would you buy a new GL-2 for the same price. I understand that the XL-1's have some years on them, and anything could go at any time, even if they are tested by B&H.

Could any tell me what the overall quality of the Canon GL1 camera is; compared to, for example, the XL2 or Panasonic DC30. I need to rent a second camera for a musical that I am doing the videography for. Are there any problems specific to it that I should be aware of? I don't want to have the video from the GL2 be sub-quality compared to my camera. Thanks.Â
