If your project is non-profit, check out mobigratis.com. The composer has made several dozen tracks available for independent/not-for-profit productions just for asking (and production credit) I've used them a couple of times. The hard part was convincing You-Tube that I actually had rights to the track, but we got it straightned out.

Hi all! I've been looking for places to post my link so folks will
find my free music. If this isn't an appropriate forum for that let
me know. You can find my music here
http://taylorhayward.org/&lt;wbr&gt;&lt;/wbr&gt;freemusic.htm . I made it royalty free and
it's currently being used in about three-hundred videos on the web.
Enjoy!

We use Crucial Music at my work. You'll need to talk with them to discuss your needs and the purpose of your videos so they can determine a price. We don't do enough work to justify an annual subscription with them. So we just pay for each song individually when we make our videos.

We pay $150 per song, which is more expensive, but their service cut down a lot of time in our music search and the quality of music is much better. So it's worth the cost. If your videos are for sale, will be broadcast on TV, or used in a film, your cost will increase drastically.

Corporate video is a big portion of my business and for that genre I use Sonic Fire Pro extensively, followed by Digital Juice Stack Traxx.

The SFP library is enormous plus they run specials very often and I have purchased many of their libraries for $20 each or less.

DJ has brought back their Stack Traxx for $20 or less each but you need to catch them when they happen.

There are so many providers of RF music out there, but does anyone know
of any providers with actual cool music? Some qualifiers...

1. Doesnt sound straight out some kid's synethesizing software (ie actually sounds produced)
2. Doesn't sound like it's from the 80's (or 90's for that matter) but sounds modern and cool
3. Doesn't cost rediculous amounts of money.
4. Actually has music that you can legitimitely use in a myriad of
corporate productions (ie its great to have these hard core cinematic
hollywood scores...but often they just sound dumb in a corporate
production). I need stuff I can use often in corporate videos, that just
sounds modern / slick.

I've had some success with some nice tracks from http://www.premiumbeat.com
- but they just dont have the largest range. What is there seems to be
good, but I feel like I have exhausted my options... I've requested
client access to killertracks.com - but they dont post the costs on
their site, and I have a feeling they are crazy expensive...

Are there any gems out there that I am not aware of?? I'd love to hear about it.

Not sure one way or another about these guys. Until they get a reputation built or someone reputable in the biz recommends them, I'll maintain a 'wait and see' stance. In the meantime, you can get results from outfits like;

Indiepix.com

Thank you for your comments EarlC. Most of the questions you ask are actually answered on our website. However on this occasion I am happy to answer them directly;

I have worked in the film industry for 14 years, mainly as line producer and then as producer.

We have no paid advertising on our site yet, so we are completly self funded as a low cost operation intended to assist the filmmaker and or the rights holder, to market their film to the international buyer.

We regularly visit film markets and festivals and make direct contact with buyers.

We don't host any material, trailers are uploaded to third party video websites like youtube. So in essence we are an introduction agency, with the unique free service of bidding(Rights Bidding Systems).

If you have any further questions, please visit our site.

Many thanks

What are your qualifications? Are you conducting any PAID advertising or marketing efforts for this program, even if entry is "free"? Care to share WHY your service or website, without having to GO there to find out, is a "go to" place for doing this, how you propose to be effective and who in the industry knows enough about you that they'd go there to check out or review independent productions and/or "feature film" productions and bid on them? How can you guarantee against copyright infringement for materials you host there?

AS Craig states, Sonic Fire Pro IS really good - I use it whenever I need exact lengths (to about the second) of really nice assortments of music - They run specials every now and again (like 5 discs of about 8-10 songs each for $100) which make it affordable for everyone (including me). I also love the new scoring edition of the software - Gives me a LOT of control in how the music flows.

Also good was CineScore from Sony - They pulled it (couldn't or wouldn't compete with SmartSound) from the market but I have seen copies of it on eBay - I liked the control it gave (like Sonic Fire Pro) but the music was not nearly as varied or abundant as SmartSound's, albeit I think their interface gave me more control plus it works as a plug-in with Vegas.

I also love Digital Juice's StackTraxx series - They are no longer sold (they might make return special appearances but you'd have to check the website regularly) - Their newer music offerings - MusicBox - are good as well.

There are many other options for RF music as well - A search of these forums will produce many threads with dozens of websites (some good, some awful) with price points ranging from free to hundreds of dollars. Best bet would be to look at as many of them as you can and listen to what they offer and note the price - Then purchase what you a) like and b) can afford.

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="border-collapse: collapse;">hi

The moment you have an idea for a new video project, you'll want to know what budget you're going to need and how you're going to get the ball rolling.

I've just put up a little online production planner - a little web ap designed to allow you to do just that in about 5 minutes - wherever you are.

Just add your title and deadline and you can start roughing out costs for elements of the production.

The clever bit is that the ap will create a todo list for each item you add to the production - so if you say you need a camera crew, it'll work out when's the ideal date to start filming, when you need to book the crew, and when you can pick up the tapes....

It's free to use (mainly because I want people to check out my animation showreel and bring me in when they need graphics, FX or animation in a project).

take a look here:

http://www.anachronistic.co.uk/tip-d...on_planner.htm

and if you like what you see, sign up to my newsletter (there's a link on the page) - I tend to give away free stock footage and that kind of stuff to subscribers.

cheers.
http://www.anachronistic.co.uk
</span></span>

Hi everyone,

I am a musician and producer currently building a portfolio of work and I am offering my services of either composing, or mixing the audio tracks of your productions free of charge. This is a new direction for my business and I need to have a body of work available for submission to potential clients, hence I am willing to undertake a small number of projects free of charge in the interim. All I ask in return is permission to use the final video in promoting my business.

If anyone is interested please send me a PM with details of your project.

Final Cut Studio comes with many sound effects included. Many offers appear in a google search, but you would have to check their terms.

http://www.google.com/search?q=free+sound+effects&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Hope this help.
