Birdcat you probably view the forums post from Videomaker home page and not enter the forums page (just like I usually view them). Now recent post are on top on the forum page, you will not need to scroll down :-). The video forum tap could also be push to the top in Videomaker homepage (for those lazy people like me that don't want to scroll down a couple of pixels)

AWESOME! I personally LOVE the move of the current and recent posts to the top of the forum column. This is really great and beats having to scroll down to them. Thanks for making this change. I think many will continue to go to the topics and select where they want their originating post to live, but this will help casual readers and others looking for specifics cut to the chase and see what topics are hot and perhaps not miss something. Could see a bit more action IMHO, on slower topic posts.

I am reading everything you guys write here and I'm envy. I take a lot of videos of the family (with my Flip HD) but it's juts
dusting on my hard drive. I barely watch it and never share it. I tried editing once or twice but gave up pretty quickly. I was told about magisto which is suppose to be for people like me (busy? lazy!) but when I get in http://www.magisto.com I can only register for an invite. I don't know anyone who
can send me an invite and I don't know when will they open their site
for everyone cause now it's in closed alpha or beta or something. Can
anyone here help? Ever heard of these guys?

I am having problems with Movie Edit Pro 14. When I try to burn a disc program made up of several photos, songs, and movies, my computer shuts down. I am running Windows XP with a 2.8 GHz pentium processor. I replaced the power supply, beefed up my HD (500GB), increased my memory to 3 GB of RAM, and tried a different DVD burner. No dice.

In the burn window, there's plenty of space on the DVD. When I cut the DVD into several smaller disc projects that are 6-7 minutes long I can get it to burn. But, they have to be less than 500 MB. That seems like a waste of space on a DVD and a lot of DVDs to watch to enjoy a slideshow/movieshow of my vacation. Any advice?

PS I tried EMAGIX, but they want me to pay a fee to get tech support as I have had the program for about a year now.

Thanks!

After speaking with our IT Department, e-mail confirmation isn't very effective from past experience and research most of the spam has gotten past this barrier. We are going to reimplement Akismet and see how that works.

I'm usually on between 6AM and 8AM Eastern and have deleted upwards of half a dozen a day (some days others must get to them first 'cause I don't see any). I have gone on throughout the day at various times and found them.

I must say I've been tempted to leave them up, only putting a huge disclaimer at the top of each post that this is a spam ad and the software has neither been tested nor endorsed by VM, plus I don't know anyone personally who has used it - That might slow them down...

I am a fan of Zombie movies, but not spam. If it's that big a problem, then I suspect sifting through spam you didn't delete would likely be as big an inconvenience to me as the CAPTCHA would be. So, (a) I thank you for deleting them, and (b) can you try the confirmation link first THEN go to CAPTCHA if need be?

I really like this forum and do thank you for keeping it going like this.

Actually, pseudosafari, you might not be "overwhelmed" by the spam because, I don't know about the others here, but I personally delete an average of three-to-four a day. If other moderators are hitting that average, then a significant number of these are being eliminated BEFORE they have a chance TO overwhelm you :-)

Respectfully, I ask that we not go the CAPTCHA route. It will significantly limiit my involvement. I like posting when I can quickly express my thoughts, but in this day and age of instant gratification on the internet (I refuse to sit through commercials anymore, for example) the extra effort needed to post will make me (and I suspect others) move on.

I've noticed that other forums I've belonged to (music, cartoons, guns, politics, other topics) that have CAPTCHA have fewer members than the ones that don't.

Also, my blog is almost free of comments and I refuse to believe it's solely due to my content. ;)

As for spam, I've noticed one here or there, but I'm not overwhelmed by it (my inbox is different, on the other hand).

Just my input.

I like the Captcha idea. If that is embraced here on VM, you guys should use the captcha that is 2 words.

I saw a show on TV about the guy who invented Captcha. The captcha that uses 2 words is used for digitizing books. When a computer scans an page of a book, but can't recognize a word due to the book being so old, Captcha is used to get a human to figure it out.

The first word is a word that the Captcha knows (that way it can confirm it's a human at the computer), and the second word is from the damaged/old book.

I don't know a whole helluvalot about this subject - it might be annoying for real posters, but what about having to do a captcha in order to post a new topic?

Personally I'm so used to captchas it wouldn't be too bad. The spamming can be somewhat irritating, and potentially misleading to those unaware of the dangers.

IMHO - Any software that cannot afford to advertise properly and resorts to putting up spam ads on a regular basis is highly suspect. I for one would be very wary of a software vendor like that - I worry about either quality on the lower risk side or malware/trojans on the higher risk side.

It seems lately we've been getting a lot of Spam Advertising particularly endorsing software. These advertisements are not approved by Videomaker. Videomaker has not tested this software. The Moderator team is aware and are doing the best it can to remove this spam as needed.
