I'm using FCP for editing. Can't see much in my editing window because it's too small. When I export to DivX and watch it on a TV screen, I see a little bit of flickering where the fresh paint has been applied. I also think it could be caused by the fact that full HD resolution is making us see details we would not see with our older, lower end camera. HD can be a problem because it hides nothing. We're probably seeing the bubbles created by the contact of the foam roller and the fresh paint.

Question, is it flickering in your editing software? Did you try rendering your footage and does it flicker in the rendered project. I know that in Adobe CS5 ACVHD files will flicker in the desplay screen but when rendered it looks great. I always shoot in 720p and then up-convert to 1080i if needed, looks betted that way on my Panasonic AG-HC150.

I am using a Canon XF300 camera to film someone applying paint to a floor. When the camera in panning on the freshly applied paint, we see flickering and shimmering where light hits the shinny surface. It looks perfect when the camera stands still. I'm shooting at 1028p30 and my shutter speed is 40. Is it because my shutter speed is too low? I've heard that my shutter speed should be twice as fast as the frame rate, which is 30 in my case.

So, I ended up having to cut my project in half and write a dot mov for each half and then compress each half. Little bit of a pain in the rear but it looks decent enough. Not ideal for my liking but the producer doesn't mind. I would like to know why I was getting that problem. My thought is that compressor had issues breaking down the information with the bright colors, dark shadows and the sun light coming through the trees. Any of that make sense?

I'm having some major issues when compressing my dot mov out of compressor into DVD format. Lots of flickering or artifacting is happening. These problems are not in my dot mov so it's obvious the problem lies in Compressor. My dot my is in Apple ProRes 422 and I'm compressing to DVD. The video here looks funny because it is the DVD mpeg 2 compression but you can still see the issue happening. I've tried different compression settings and am at the end of my rope. Any suggestions or help?

what  is your frame rate and scanning mode?

I've noticed in the past I got weird lines with 24p, then I realized 24p is actually 23.976. So maybe that is your problem....if you tried to shoot in 24p.Â

Using DVD Architect, I'm getting 'flickering' horizontal lines when playing the DVD on TVs through a DVD player, the DVD and the MPEG file are fine when played on the computer. These flickering horizontal lines are somewhat distracting from the main subject. I've tried burning at a slower rate. Any advice?
