Hey Gang,

I posted this in Final Cut Express as well. I'm currently editing the
first episode to a new web series that I'm creating. I rented two field
cameras from a TV station and shot the episode outside with both
cameras. When I came back to edit, one camera had recorded the footage
nicely, while the other recorded everything in a blue hue as if the
camera had a blue filter on it (But it didn't). I am now playing around
with Final Cut Express trying to get the blue hue footage to look like
the regular footage and the Color Corrector filter is not solving the
problem--either I'm not using it right or it's not up to snuff.

Does
anyone know a) how to solve my problem, b) of any software that might
solve my problem? I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5 on
my computer, but have not used either of these yet--if you can help me
resolve my problem using either of these, please let me know.

To
view the blue hue, please go to: http://www.youtube.com/totallybragging. The
first shots of the girls have the blue hue. And later on in the trailer
when Cortney says "Bragging" that's the color I'd like to have on the
blue hue shots.

If this problem cannot be resolved, I'm thinking
that I can just convert the blue footage to black and white, which might
work???

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Hello everyone. I'm new here, but I love the site and I love the forums.

I've worked in independent film for about 4 years, but mostly as a co-producer and sometimes Unit Production Manager. I'm just now getting my hands dirty with the technical stuff. I've shot weddings before and want to buy a prosumer camcorder for future weddings and short movies. The whole wedding thing kind of rules out the DSLRs that are so popular now.

I've been leaning toward Panasonic. Particularly the HPX-170. But I'm concerned with using the P2 technology. I wanted to edit via FCE 4.0 on my Macbook Pro, but I'm discovering FCE doesn't support P2.

I'm wary to try upgrading to Final Cut Studio for fear it will slow my laptop down immensely. But I also wanted the CCD sensors vs. the CMOS that Sony and Canon are putting in all their cameras now, which leaves Panasonic as my only option.

I looked at the HVX200 because it records P2 AND Mini-DV but I want a camera that records 1080p and 24p, and I feel like there is no perfect option for what I want. Here's what I want to do:

Price - $2000-$4000
XLR inputs
1080p and 24p
1/3" CCD (ideally)

Any ideas? Please help! I'm drowning in specs.

Hi Mavens,

In Final Cut Express, is there a way to "hold" (stop) a Scrolling Text Title at the last line?

FYI: While I know this is possible in Apple's LiveType; this question is addressed specifically to FCE.

I have a jvc miniDV camcorder, and recently I have been thinking about getting into the HD craze. I have an iMac with Intel processors and Final Cut Express 4 installed, so I'm pretty sure I can edit in almost any format. I was wondering which HD format, and how it is saved, is the best (meaning looking best)? File size is not really an issue, because I have a 500GB external HDD. Is hard drive, memory stick, or tape best? What about HDV, AVCHD, or some other one?

Hi,
I was going to buy a wonderful Canon HFS100 but I realized that my old mac wouldn't handle HD. I now want to buy an new editing computer! I'm looking at a 24" iMac with 4GB RAM and a 1TB hard drive. I will be using Final Cut Express and a future AVCHD HFS100. Am I missing anything? Will this computer suit editing? Ideas?

Thanks in advance for all your great ideas guys!

Hey all,

I have a white 24" iMac (first gen Intel chips) and am running Final Cut Express to do some painting lesson videos. These are pretty basic stuff with minimal effects. They are rendering super slow. A 20 minute video took 24 hours to export using the standard Vimeo HD quicktime settings.

My machine has the max amount of ram 4 gigs with a internal 250 GB drive. I have several external Lacie drives hanging off of it for storage and backup. One 1TB on the FW800 port One 1TB on the FW400 Port and a 500GB off of the usb port. I have my source video files on the FW800 drive and the FCE project on the FW400 drive with all apps and os on the internal drive. All of the video is shot in full 1920X1080 HD from a Canon HF100 AVCHD

I don't know where the bottle neck is...Bandwidth to the hard drives, lack of memory, or just processor speed. I would like to get this machine to perform reasonable so I don't have to purchase a new one.

I am sure there is a way to improve the horrible speed but I am ignorant of how to setup this machine for higher performance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for your time,

I'm planning to purchase FCX for my office. We do only a very little video for our retail website, but iMovie just isn't cutting it. I've seen some people complaining that 4 cut Soundtrack and LiveType. Is is worth getting 4, or should I try to find a used copy of 3.5?

I have some experience with FCP, so I'm not a total n00b, but just unfamiliar with the Express product.Â

I’m new to this great website, but wanted to throw out some questions to the pros.

I have a new Canon VIXIA HV 30 camcorder. I want to make HD video of a fly fishing trip to Alaska using this camera. I will end up downloading the video to my Mac and use Final Cut Express HD and make a DH DVD (probably with a BluRay DVD burner or another HD disc medium.

Â

The camera can record in 24P and 30P (60i too). Given that I will be shooting outdoors in a fast moving water environment and fast motion with fly rod movement what setting (24P or 30P) will work to make the best quality video in Final Cut Express HD…??

Note: I won’t be downloading any video to YouTube, etc.

Â

Any recommendations on camera settings or ideas on recording, Final Cut Express settings or burning to HD media to a beginner will be greatly appreciated.

Â

My new Canon XH A1 camera will probably not arrive by departure date, but I’m hoping.

I have recorded a HD video on my Canon HD camera in 1080i at 30p. I want to bring this video into Final Cut Express.

In the "Easy Setup" pulldown I have Format selected as "HD".
I then have 2 options (but am unsure which to choose) to select.
1) HDV - Apple Intermediate Code 1080i60.
2) HDV - Apple Intermediate Code 720p30.

Can anyone please tell me which one of the 2 sellections is most appropriate...???
