(insert long sigh) Yes, I admit I too made a 'Student Film'. Had to otherwise they wouldn't have let me graduate. That said, I did my very best to avoid as many cliche's as humanly possible to keep it from looking totally like a student film. Actually, I hate student films. Most are so horrific that when an actual gem pops up I can literally hear Handel's "Messiah" with full orchestra and angelic choir loud and clear.

The following film "Script Cops" by Scott Rice brings to realization of the 'crackdown' on student films that's long been overdue.

Hi to everyone, and thanks for taking some time out of your days to read this. My name is Caleb, I am a student/independant filmmaker. I am working on my first major project this summer. It is an artistic/poetic documentary on living on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles. For more information on the film visit http://www.simplyalivefilm.blogspot.com . However the idea here isnt to promote my film, but to ask anyone's help on how to raise funds for the film. I am trying to raise funds for a new camera for my production company to take to the streets with us. We are having issues raising funds for this film. The film is a nonprofit film, which obviously means that anything we get from the film, we put towards it. The problem we are having is that noone seems to want to invest in a film that will not return money to their wallets. We have no footage now, and we are working on getting some in the next month. Does anyone have any ideas as to what we could do to raise some money and awareness for the film. I am currently out of school and doing small video shoots and acting jobs, just to make an extra buck, but we are so short of our budget and we want to film in late July. Please give me your thoughts and ideas as to what we could do! Thanks so much guys!

Hi, I'm John Romeo, creator and host of "The Romeo Theater", an online show. In each show we present a short movie, and the director shares a little bit about the story behind it.

I'm always looking for short films to feature on the show! If you'd like to present your movie (under 5 minutes long) on The Romeo Theater, visit the website at http://www.romeo-theater.com and click the 'Submissions' link on the right. I would love to see your stuff!

You can view the show at the website to see how the format works: http://www.romeo-theater.com. You can also 'subscribe' to the show as a video podcast by searching "Romeo Theater" in Apple iTunes. Select shows are also available at my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/TheRomeoTheater

Don’t just watch the films. Be a part of them by producing a video for the 2008 EPFF YouTube Challenge!

The challenge is simple. Create a YouTube video promoting this year’s Estes Park Film Festival, and the video with the most viewings by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7 will be the recipient of two All-Access Gold Passes (valued at $200) to the 4-day Festival.
Â
Here’s how to play:

1.) Research the upcoming Estes Park Film Festival by visiting http://www.estesparkfilm.com , and also click on “Past Festivals” and see what’s been done in the past.

2.) Check out http://www.YouTube.com/epfilmfest to watch the previous promos for the Estes Park Film Festival, and also do a search to see what other festivals across the nation are doing.

4.) Create a short video that would be :30 seconds or less. Edgy videos are good, but please no curse words or explicit content.

5.) After your video is posted to YouTube, please send an e-mail to Sean Doherty, Executive Director, sean@estesparkfilm.com , by August 15 and you will receive an email confirmation letting you know of your entry’s acceptance into the contest. Please put “YouTube Challenge” in the e-mail subject line. Each submission should include the user name, video title, and YouTube link.

6.) All submissions to YouTube must be posted by August 15. Remember, the festival begins on September 11. Which means the sooner you post your video, the more “views” you’ll have an opportunity to get.

7.) The producer of the video with the most viewings by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7 will be the recipient of two Gold Passes (valued at $200) to the 4-day Festival which includes the following benefits:

All-access seamless experience to the Festival

Priority Seating: First admittance to all Festival films

Admission to Opening Night Gala on the 12th , and Awards Gala on the 14th

Swag Bag: Exclusive limited edition commemorative merchandise, drink vouchers, and sponsor coupons.
