Thank you for those links.....I was not able to initially fix the problem...I initially began editing in CS-3 while it did export with the sync problem but to fix I had to then import into CS5.5 Resync and export that resulted in time saving trying to fix out why I was having the initial problem. So, far I created another project same cameras, same audio collection file and sync all of my media...exported and no problem...so my guess is that something in the initial project that created that sync problem...Thank you for your input.

Seems the problem is not unique to you. The following forums discuss the same problem audio video sync problem you are experiencing and they should be able to best assist you. Good luck.

since I have to upload to youtube....I've had to split the video in four parts...I initially exported to quick time using codec H-264...all four parts in Premiere were ok in the syncronization...I exported each part using the same settings...Part 1 & 2 once uploaded to youtube and viewed they were un-synced...but 3 & 4 were ok...

At this point I Re-exported parts 1 & 2 to the AVI format part one looked ok but part two seemed out of sync....Same settings in AVI....

Now I am really clueless

I stand corrected, After searching google apparently there is a work around..not very compatible but I guess if you have the time and patience and money to experiment more power to you. I just burn a blu ray and send to client..works fo me.

Hi,

You can burn HD Blu-Ray on regular DVD the only condition is to burn a movie less than 30 minutes. Naturally if you burn B-R type you need a B-R player. On PC, Magix Movie Edit Pro 17 plus can work easily to do this. Curiously a less $100 can do it easily and give great result.

Regards,

Here is my 1/50 of a dollar's worth. I use Vegas Movie Studio to put AVCHD files on a DVD which can only be played on a Blu ray or PS3 player, not a regular DVD player. I don't know what the settings are, I just do my editing and click on burn HD to DVD. I do know that the resulting picture on my HD LCD Tv is terrific. This same thing can be done with a Sony DVDirect. This is a freestanding unit (no computer needed) that you hook up directly to your HD camcorder. As Earl stated, there is a limited amouont of HD files that will fit on a DVD (don't know exactly but somewhere around 35 minutes?).

After I burn these files to a DVD with the DVD burner on my computer, I can't acces these files using the same DVD burner on my computer. Go figure. I'm not an expert on these matters. I just know what works for me.

Being, at the moment, 'between systems' but heading when finances permit, towards HD, I have looked at many systems. My footage is in a 'native' DV-AVI, (ex DV-tape) and it has paid me to keep it in that format for as long as possible, so all footage, once 'logged-in' is saved in both DV-AVI and high quality mpg2; since for the duration of the present 'product', I intend to stick with that format, (which is the one dictated by the 'DVD-standard' in any case'). Following that, I am open to suggestions. I have experimented with various h264/mpg4 formats, but have not yet found one to equal the simplicity of mpg2; in fact, the opposite, a common problem being pixellation clusters of either 16px square or in the worst cases 64px square, especially in the first 500 milliseconds or so, of shots. If such pixellation is common, 'Worthjoh', I'd be taking a look at the various settings available in whatever process you are using. Frequently going for higher quality, (albeit, at the cost of longer transcoding times), proves to be the answer.

The advantage, in my case, of logging and saving footage in DV-AVI, is that it preserves an uncompressed image intact for future use, possibly radically improved codecs becoming available in the future, for example. Also, and it's a consideration, there are many software facilities, such as 'Avisynth', 'Virtualdub', which work only on AVI footage, as far as I know.

I edit my videos in HD and burn to DVD. Yes it can be done, but not with consumer grade software. With Premiere Pro I edit using an AVCHD 1920x1080 preset and when is time to export I use Adobe Media Encoder. I set the video format either to MPEG2 DVD or H.264 (mostly this one), pixel aspect ratio to widescreen and make some adjustment in the bit rate settings (VBR or CBR). Of course you will lose a lot of video quality, so you cannot expect the original HD resolution. Like Weddingmaster mentioned, you need a Blu Ray burner and I may also add a professional disc authoring software, such as Adobe Encore.

In the past I've done searches on Google on burning HD to DVD and yes, there are ways to do it. While I cannot remember the exact formula for accomplishing this, I know for a fact that a solution exists, just be aware that at a much-reduced capacity, certainly not hours of HD content. I believe that if you will conduct this search for yourself you WILL find the solution. While Weddingmaster is being a bit arbitrary, HD production recorded to BluRay is probably much less problematic.

HI all, been reading video maker for a while and lurking the forums but this is my first post and I couldn't find the exact answer I have been looking for.

I have an Imac 3.06 ghz intel core, 4 gb ram, 1 tb hard drive. I use Imovie , final cut express and have been learning some after effects. I recently have upgraded from my mini DV camera to the cannon hfm 31 hd camcorder with hard drive. My footage looks great in Imovie in HD havn't played with it in FC yet. Here is my deleimia. I am not sure how to get the best looking footage on to dvd. I use I-Dvd. I did the share to idvd and it looks ok on a standard tv but on my HD tv the background looks a little pixelated I know this is how imovie converted it over to I-dvd because I went back and watched it on the computer.

My footage is only 30 minutes long so disk space isn't an issue. I am just wondering how should I export my footage to look the best on an Hd Tv even though I am not using Hd disc. if anyone can help I would appricate it.

Thanks

Hi,

I recently got a new computer and i had to reinstall my software,

Now when i export my film from Elements to a WMV file it only produces a top left quater of the film.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

"H.264 HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality (a preset within Premiere) the video comes out extremely
choppy...as in the audio will play and the video will hitch along and be mostly
out of sync dropping whole sections of the video as it tries to catch up."

The video file is probably fine...the problem maybe with the player, but it more than likely has to do with your computer specs. My H.264 1080p files from the Canon 7d never play back continuously on my cheaper AMD Athlon Dual Core, but would play back fine on the suped up mac.

My suggestion is to just do a test upload to youtube. They will tweak it for optimal playback on computers through their interface.

Also, for playback on the web, 720p will do just fine and it's just easier to work with.

I use CS3 but perhaps describing what I do will help.

If I have a 1080 project and I want to put on YouTube I export as H.264, then select 720P, render out (MP4) and upload that to YouTube. That way people can select what quality they want to view it.

If I want to make my 1080 project as a DVD I render using the mpeg-DVD setting and multiplex the audio. I don't render in any quality lower than DVD MPEG2.

Choppy playback may have more to do with what player you are using. I switched to VLC and never have computer playback probs with HDV.

If you create your projects in HD, either 1080 (as you are doing) or 720, you always have the choice to produce high quality video for YouTube or regular SD video for DVD.

I currently shoot HD video with a Canon
Vixia HF S10 digital camcorder (link goes to Canon's site). I shoot at the highest
quality available, MXP 24 Mbps (1920x1080). When I bring the video over to my
machine, it comes over as an .mts
file which is the AVCHD file format (link goes to Wikipedia article on the
format). I import these .mts files into Adobe Premiere (CS4). I import them
into a AVCHD 1080p30 (29.97) Sequence. I do my editing, adding title screens,
music, whatever. The problem comes when I go to export the final product into a
usable format. I've tried all different sorts of formats to export to and
I can't get any usable results. If I select, for instance, H.264 HDTV 1080p
29.97 High Quality (a preset within Premiere) the video comes out extremely
choppy...as in the audio will play and the video will hitch along and be mostly
out of sync dropping whole sections of the video as it tries to catch up.

My end goal is to be able to export two versions...a higher
quality (maybe burned to a DVD or Blu-Ray) and a lower quality (but still HD)
for uploading to YouTube/SmugMug.

Any help or thoughts you may have would be greatly

Since you posted in the Final Cut Studio forum, I'm assuming you have the entire bundle?

The best thing to do is go to File > Export > Quicktime Movie (not Quicktime Conversion, and make sure your Timeline is selected).

Export a Self-Contained file with current settings.

Bring this new file into Compressor. Go to the settings window and look for the "DVD Best Quality 90 Minutes" folder. There are 2 settings within this folder - one to create an .ac3 file and the other to create the MPEG file. Drop both of these presets onto your file.

Click submit at the bottom of the Batch window and let Compressor do it's thing.

Once Compressor is done, use those 2 new files for DVD. I'm not sure if they will work in iDVD, I don't use that program. If they don't, use DVD SP. That's not a hard program

Hi all,

I am a hobbyist looking at getting more professional and start getting paid for work I do. One thing I have noticed when I do effects such as overlaying footage on top of each other or freeze framing, just to name a few. When I output the project on DVD and I play back on a regular TV, the video looks really shakey and not smooth as it does in Final Cut and online. Any thoughts as to why this happens? Should I be exporting in a different format? Any advice would be great!

I can confirm that on a PC, WinXP, CS3, with Quicktime (free version) loaded, the choices are as Jerron describes them. The Quicktime option is second last in my drop down list.

Are you on a PC?

Try downloading the Quicktime Player. That may be required to output to Quicktime format from Premiere Pro on a PC.

Thanks Jerron - but...

My format list includes H.264 but not Quicktime. So I selected the H264 format. Then looked in the Video tab, and The codec is listed as MainConcept H.264, but there is no dropdown list to select from.

Do I need to install a Quicktime codec? and from where?

.mov is the extension for a Quicktime file. To produce that the following steps should help.

step 1: Choose File>Export>Media

step 2: In the Export Settings dialog box chose Quicktime from the Format pull-down menu at the top of the dialog box.

step 3: Click on the Video tab at the bottom of the dialog box. In the Codec pull-down menu choose h.264.

That should give you the format/codec that you need.

Most of the time I export to FLV/FL4V in PP-CS4 and that works pretty well. Even so there are so many options in the preset category that I keep trying different ones. I upload to TubeMogul.com that does some transcoding and crossposting to a variety of server sites, so I don't need to worry much about the specifics.

But - I'm not really happy with the quality of the viewing on some of the sites.

Question 1 - is there a preferred/best Format/Preset for Youtube HD?

Question 2 - I've been asked to provide H.264 with .MOV container. I can't seem to find an option for .MOV output. There are several iPod output presets, but nothing that creates a .MOV file. They all create .mp4 extensions.

Confused....

Sakaane on "Premiere Pro CS3 jagged captured text after export (Adobe Media Encoder)"

Interesting. If I export from Premiere into .mov the text is completely clear with the following settings:

Format: Quicktime
Preset: HDTV 720p 24
Codec: H.264
Quality: 50
Frame Width: 1280
Frame Height: 720
Frame Rate: 24
Field Order: None (Progressive)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
Bitrate: 5,120

This results in a file that is also approximately half the size (75MB) of what I was getting trying with the H.264 (.mp4) format.

Youtube lists .mp4 as one of the preferred containers though, so I'm still keen to get the same clear result with that format.

Hello everyone!

I am working on a video tutorial using footage of my Windows desktop captured using CamStudio 2.0.

The raw footage shows onscreen text clearly. While editing in Premiere, the text is also clear. It's only on export that the text becomes jagged and I'm at my wits end in trying to correct it.

The destination is YouTube, so I am using Adobe Media Encoder to export. The captured footage is 720p so I'm using H.264 and the HDTV 720p High Quality preset (but with 30fps and Square Pixels to match the captured footage). The "Output" preview tab also shows text clearly.

Here is a frame from the raw footage (frame exported using Premiere) showing clear text.

Here is a screenshot of the same point in the footage after exporting and playing back in a media player. Yuck!

This is my first time trying to create a video with this kind of footage in it. Am I just not getting enough "High Quality" out of the exported video? I also notice the exported video looks like it has a "grey" haze over it.

Please help, thanks!
