Hello Everyone, just wanted to post a
video we just wrapped up. This video was shot on the Sony EX1 with a
teleprompter and green screen. We used various jump-backs and music to move the
video along.

This part one of a series of videos
and will be used for their website and office. Very interesting stuff on
Chiropractic care.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5nIiCOr6AA&

Enjoy.

I just dumped my EX1 after having it and wanting to love it for months. For what I need it for, (hand held, tight quarters) I just couldn't live with the fact that it's a horrible camera to hold for more than 10 minutes! Yes, it's got everything and more, but if you can't hold it, and shoot with it comfortably, what good is it! And new media cards for $800-$1200 a whack? Thats whack!

So, on to the next camera. BUT, which one? I need HD, broadcast standard 35mbps, affordable media and something that shoots great quality for TV. there's a few I like but lack the 35Mbps (sony Z5U and the Panasonic HM150). What abut the new JVC camera, only 1/4 chips but is that good enough for tv when I'm shooting outside in high light??

Suggestions? Other camera's I should be looking for in the 3-5k range?

Greeting, all.

I'm in the process of setting up a commercial production studio, and I'm looking for advice from other video producers on my choice for primary camera.

I'm pretty much sold on the Sony PMW-EX3. However, I have to admit I don't know as much about Canon, JVC, or Panasonic's products as I should. The EX line gets so much press, it's hard to know what other comparable cameras I may be missing out on if I go that route. I know what features I want in a camera, but I'm not entirely sure which cameras (besides the EX1/3) will meet my needs.

What I'm looking for:

-1080/720 24/30/60p

-3 chip (CMOS or CCD)

-records to file (HD or card)

-native FCP compatability (ie not AVCHD)

-4:2:2 capable

-XLR mic jacks with switchable +48V

-manual focus/iris/zoom

-priced under $10k

Bonus points (but not required):

-changeable glass

-shoulder mountable

Other than the EX3, are there any other cameras that fit those requirements that I should look into?

Thanks in advance,

-Jeff
