Dear responders, my issues are as follows; and I hope to generate simple and to the point answers that are unbiased, practical, and most importantly current.

I need to select a camera for wedding/event videography. My budget is at around 5000 dollars. It would be great if I could buy a package that would allow me to provide superior quality through my investment in equipment and at the same time remain current. (I dont for my personal reasons want to involve DSLR as my primary videocamera)

I think everyone within the wedding/event videography business understands the issues that may be of concern in this business; furthermore a main issue that i have encountered is the chasm between the 10 +experienced guys and the less than 10 years videographers who have the dv vs no dv issue? FOr instance get the HVR-7zu that does hybrid recording or go with something fresher that is strictly memory based (is their risk or not when taping someones "DAY"? thanks for your humble and to the point opinions.

I am new to videography, but I am about to embark on a career in it.

I have not had to do this yet, but as I get more into event recording I am sure I will have to deliver HD video. It seems to me that burning Blu-Ray is very expensive. I have seen videographers put the files on Flash Drives and deliver them that way, I wanted to know how people in this forum are delivering finished HD content to clients, and what one would charge.

So I will be new to wedding videography. I'd like to call what I'm going to do, wedding cinematography. My question is as follows: In you experience as a wedding videographer which up-to-date camera would you recommend to make the possibilities for an event timeless, and capabilities and editing potentials jaw dropping. Because I do believe that the original quality of the video captures is significant, along with what media it is recorded on in conjunction with its ease of post production use and time consumption. Camera versatility is also a concern.

The cameras I'm currently looking at are the following please provide suggestions in these areas or freely from your experience. Sony HVR-Z7E, Sony PMW-EX3, Canon XLH1Sa.

Thanks for all your information in advance.

Hello,

I have to livestream video of a presenter giving a presentation live from the US to an audience in France. I have a Canon GL2 and a video encoder/server. We are going to use livestream.com or a similar service. I have a couple of questions. First, any suggestions for shooting a presentation screen? We will be in a classroom. I should be able to close blinds and just leave the normal lights on. I just do not want the screen to be washed out so that the audience will be able to see & read it well. I need lighting suggestions all the way around, the presenter is very dark complected so I want to make sure the lighting is right so that it complements her as well as the screen. I'm sure I need other tips...Ive never done live streaming before! Thanks so much! :)

Hi,

I am about to do a series of "how-to-shoot-video" tutorials aimed at event videographers, small production companies and hobbyists. We will shoot it in HD.What I'm wondering is:

What is the current camcorder and video file format of choice for folks who fit in that niche?

What are the industry trends these days?

What about non-linear editing software? Are you running into any issues as you migrate to HD?

Feel free to contact me directly if that suits you: jeff@sengstack.com.

Thanks,

Whether you shoot video or film, tape or digital what would it take to shoot then edit a video of an event and deliver it the same day?

I've done it a couple of times and plan to do it for an upcoming job. I can best describe it as 'not fun but fun'. Not fun because of the tremendous stress and precise time management issues but fun when it all works out. Steve Weiss and the latest panel of 'Filmfellas' discuss this very topic from the prospective of high-end wedding filmmakers. Much of what they talk about applies to the journeyman wedding videographer and can be applied to your own projects.

Watch the video and let me know your thoughts and experiences on this topic.
