make em RGB then fly em around in After Effects as desired. Render as QT files and then import those into your NLE.

AE can handle your large files in their natice resolution, giving you all the handles you need to animate as needed. Just render to the rez of your project.

It all comes down to resolution.

If you are working with HD, save the PNG file at 1920 X 1080.

If you are working with standard def, save the PNG as 720 X 480 (assuming NTSC, PAL is different).

You could always save the files a little larger but I have found it best to have the still images I use on my timeline to be close in size to my output resolution.

One exception would be if you intend to zoom in more than a little (Ken Burns effect), in which case the zoomed in (smaller) segment should come close to matching your output resolution.

I am editing a video with High Res pictures that are PSD's. I am getting an
error message when I import the pictures. It says "unsupported file or
damaged" which leads me to think that the file is too big as it's close to
100mb.

So, I have saved it as a PNG to make
it much smaller. The only issue is that when I insert it in my timeline it
looks real fuzzy. The crispness and resolution has been lost.

Not sure what is going on here. Any help would be great! Thanks for the
help!

Ok this turned out to be an issue with screen ratio and not an audio issue at all. When you export to file Adobe Pro gives you several options on aspect ratio. I fooled with this until it no longer gave me this error. Still wondering why the error happened, but gald that I have moved passed it. Oh and I almost forgot...I purchased the latest version of Adobe Pro CS4 so at least I should be able to get some tech support next time.

My problem seems to be only when I try to convert a project to a Windows Media File. I use the 2 pass VBR method. I get an error the Audio encoding failed and am told to try one pass or CBR (Constant Bit Rate). I try this but get the same message. I first encountered this issue a year ago and found the fix online but thought it was a one time issue so I did not record how I fixed it and now I have forgotten what I did to fix it. Adobe says they will no longer support Premiere Pro 2 and promptly ended the techsupport. Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Anyway the camera will be in service soon.
As a final note: in the same period of time (aprox. 2 months) were recorded about 20 tapes all in good condition, this tape (with the problems) was last but one and the last one was again good.
I`ll keep you informed.
I had to split the message....Some problems with forum engine

After this I`ll have to readjust the position to the original one.
One way to avoid this (especially with new tapes) is to fastforward and then to rewind the entire tape and after that to record 30 seconds at the beginning of the tape with something not important maybe bars, eject the tape and finally you can use it.
All the information is from an Sony Service Center.

First of all a better description of the defect: vertical pixelated bars over the image.
All of this was due to a small misguiding of the tape in the camcorder mechanism. Now to recover the information I had to reproduce the exact conditions when the tape was recorded.

The problem you are describing was mentioned in a previous post. While I've never had a problem with my VX2100, other folks said the problem is something I never, ever do. The claim was that you absolutely must follow Sony's instructions to insert a videotape. It is a two step procedure, first push down the videotape then close the outside door. They said that closing the tape door & forcing the tape into the deck doesn't let the tape properly align and the tape stock is being scratched.

Give it a shot and let us knowif that's the problem. oh, and good luck.

I`ve tried to clean up the head with a cleaning tape but no success. Other tapes work fine.
In the past I had some similar problems but at the end it worked.
Another issue which might be related is that many tapes recorded with this camera have the same problem when they are used on another camcorder with playback.

You haven't mentioned if you've done this with with any other camcorders, so you know the process works. Nor did you mention which of the myriad of settings to record video you have & haven't attempted. And it isn't clear when your device error occurs. Is it being recognized by Windows? Is it recognized by Movie Maker? Exactly what were you doing before it errored out? You say you were attempting to upload video, did you actually mean capture video? Uploading & capturing are handled by completely different software systems.

So I can't tell you anything unless you can describe the problem. If I were you, I would error on the side of more information than you think we need. But I can confidently say it has nothing to do with not using Sony software. I connected one of my Sony's through the Firewire port. But I'd already started Movie Maker! And it instantly recognized the camera as I plugged it in. So my Windows XP SP2 handled everything perfectly while running on the Sony VAIO it came preinstalled on. What are you doing different?

John,   Thanks for the reply. I tried holding shift and starting Vegas, no luck! I've reinstalled Vegas a couple of times already (before I posted). AND... I've tried restoring to a restore point (2 different points before the AVG thing) and both failed.

One thing I found in a post somewhere was a different Vegas error: the post said to: Start - Run - 'sfc /scannow' then: Start - Run - 'chkdsk /r'. And the guy posted back that everything worked! I tried this but came to a point to where it asked me to insert my CD that I used to install SP2. I didn't have one so I might try making one and trying again and inserting the disc. Basically it's making sure that all the System files are in place and correct.

OR... I might just reload the whole system. My laptop came with Vista and I put XP on it anyway and have all the drivers I need, so I know I can get there.

Hit me back if you come up with anything else. I post back with any miracles I might find.

hmmmm.... interesting problem, i would first try a "reset" of vegas by holding the shift key while starting vegas. that will restore everything to it's defaults...... second thing i would try is to reinstall vegas to fix any files that have been corrupted, third thing i would try is a system restore to before you upgraded avg to 8 and see if you still have problems.

 Hey all,

I started a new project in Vegas 8 the other day, I wanted to get my clips in and save off the project to edit for later. I threw in the clips, waited for all the audio to load and went for the save. I received the following error:

Error - " An error occurred while saving the project file MemorialDay.veg. The file could not be created. "

I've messed with folder permissions in file explorer. The folder alway has a green square in the 'Read only' box (not a check, just a green square) I clear the green square and save for this folder and all below and still I get the error.

I did one time get the project to save by naming the project something else and while in the 'Save As' dialog box, right mouse clicked the folder I was saving in and did the 'Read Only' box clear and continued. It did save the project and and when double clicked in file explorer brought up Vegas and the project.

But...

When I made a modification to the project and tried to save it gave me the same error as above. AND... when I closed everything and went back in using file explorer the project was renamed to PROJECT.veg.bku. I tried the same thing over again and that time I went back in the project was GONE! Not renamed, but gone.

I CAN'T HAVE THIS !!! I need to get some editing done.

Last week I upgraded my AVG Free virus application to Ver 8 from 7.5 like I was told to do and it made my laptop run 'funny'. Everything took forever and some things just wouldn't load, but they showed as running in Task Manager! WEIRD! I looked at Avira's virus and it has some good reviews so I uninstalled AVG and am now using Avira's Antivir. That's when I brought up Vegas to get some work done. And now I'm not getting anything done except typing out my probelms.

One note: In the past I would be editing and go to save and get this error. I would try again a few seconds later and it would save. I never thought much of it. Now it will not save a project at all.

Has anyone encountered this?

Is it something to do with the File I/O manager of Vegas?

Thanks in advance,
