I have a menu that I made in photoshop. I want to put a moving fire ball behind it, where I cut out the face area of a motorcycle helmet. I also cut out two other places to put short vid clips to show through. I made the entire thing in Premiere Pro and tried it in AE too. Is there a way to import it as a menu or make this happen. I have never done anything other than a generic menu in encore. I appreciate any help.

In the CS3 version anything that is originally set up in the project as untranscoded remains untranscoded when you close and open the project again. It's one of the reasons why I make an image after I know the project is good. I make subsequent copies using iso files and Image burn.

Hello,

I have been using encore 1.5 for a while, but recently have had some issues and hope someone can help or tell me that it is just me!

I finished my project, everything transcoded fine and I burned several dvds. Saved everything and closed.

About a month later, I came back to burn another dvd from the project. Had not changed anything or moved any files etc, but all of my footage was untrascoded, so it had to go back through the transcode process.

Is this normal and I just never noticed it before (because I usually just copy from a master dvd when I need), have I done something wrong, or is encore just messing with my head?

This is my first post on this forum, so I look forward to hearing from some of you and learning what I can! Thanks

yes, there is. You can try DVD Flick. It is an open source app for DVD authoring, and can burn near any video file to DVD, support for over 60 video codec and 40 audio codec. Easy to use.

Hmm...converting a source that using Long GOP compression to a format that also uses Long GOP compression may be the issue.

I would try exporting your HDV sequence as DVCPro HD to get into an i-frame codec. Then compress that new file to MPEG-2.

25 hours doesn't sound right at all.

Hi. I regularly use Encore CS4 for DVD authoring, from Premiere Pro sequences. Usually, I do it in "automatic", so the application decides the transcoding bitrate and other parameters. A 90 minutes DVD usually last around 5 hours.

However, I was not satisfied with the results. I shoot HDV and the quality of raw footage and DVD were totally different. The DVD just don't look too bad, but not near professional.

My footage is most live dance events, so fast motion is the norm.

I tested with manual transcoding parameters: VBR, 2 pass, target 6, max 8 min 2, and the process took 25 hours in a Core 2 Quad with 8 Gb RAM for 90 minutes video.

I am surprise for the time, considering the system is quite powerfull. Is this normal?

What happens in Preview mode? If it doesn't work there it Never works on a DVD. However, sometimes if it does work there it sometimes doesn't work on a DVD.

No doubt your project is creating mixed messages for DVD players. I too have had VLC player not ply my first play video that was to lead to the main menu.

I have a little post it in my ENCORE book which I refer to in times of need. I have also posted previously regarding ENCORE. ENCORE does an amazing amount routing by itself, w/o user settings, and I have found that my fiddling with menu, timeline and chapter outcomes (links and overrides) has generally been the culprit. So, go back and make chapter links=not set, button override=not set, timeline menu remote=return to last menu and timeline override=not set.

then try the preview mode. If it all works as it should, be happy! if not, you may want to start a new project from blank and assess as you go along.

My POST-I says...

1. Do NOT use 'Override' anywhere.

2. Do NOT use Timeline 'Link' or 'Override.'

I captured HD 1080i footage from Sony FX1000, used Abobe Premier Pro to edit it and Adobe Encore to authorise disk. First I produced DVD and its quality was very good. Then:

1) I imported timeline from PP into Encore using Adobe Dynamic link (same step as for DVD).

2) I selected "blu-ray" in Encore "built" window and created BluRay Disk image. To my surprise, the size of BD image was only 2.2 times larger (10.1GB vs 4.5GB) then the size of DVD image (I expected ~5x difference). However, I did not find any knobs in Encore to change the size/quality.

3) I burned image onto Panasonic BD-R media using Power2Go software and LG GGW-H20L writer.

4) Watched it using Sony BDP-S360 BR player and SONY HD projector connected through HDMI.

It worked! - but: the quality of BD picture was not better (maybe - even worse) than the quality of DVD picture.

Player and projector work O.K. becasue they show amaizing picture from Hollywood BluRay discs.

My questions are:

1) Why I do not see quality improvement on my BD compared to DVD?

2) Why this disk is recognizedonly by 2 out of 5 BluRay players that I have tryed?

Than you in advance,

I am making a dvd menu with an active area and an image to be displayed when the button is highlighted. Encore sees this highlighted image as a button, therefore it interferes with the other buttons on the menu. Is there a way of specifying the hit state for a button so it doesn't include this highlighted image?Â

1) Encore is a DVD Authoring application, that's all. For burning CDs you can use iTunes, Windows Media Player, or the software that came with your DVD Burner I use Sonic RecordNow, many use Nero.

2) eBay, but no version is cheap or free ;)Â You can use the older versions to get new versions for the upgrade price.

I had to pay over $200 for Encore v1, just so I could get Premiere Pro CS3 at the upgrade price.

1. Can Encore burn plain ol' CDs? Or is it DVD only?

2. Is there a place you can go to get old versions of the software programs for cheap or even free? I'd like to get Premiere Pro 2.0, Photoshop and Illustrator CS, Encore DVD, Audition 1.0 and After Effects 6.0.

Thanks! chris

I'm not sure, I installed from a DVD so I don't know how the software download from the site works. Sorry.

Only thing I can suggest is to check the documentation they sent you when you purchased the software, it may indeed be a separate download.

I understand that but it does not explain why it is not there. Is Encore a seperate download?

Put a video on the time line.

If there's nothing there, then nothing could be exported to Encore.

There is no Encore listed in my programs. I downloaded the trial version from Adobe's site and the decided to make the purchase. Would that have anything to do with it?

And yes the timeline is highlighted when I click export but it is still grayed out.

Encore is a separate program that is bundled with Premiere Pro, so they are only sold together. Assuming Encore is installed, and it should have been when you installed PP CS3. You can check to see if it is installed by checking under the start menu where your other programs list. If the option is grayed out;

Is your timeline selected when try to click on the option?
