Hi guys!
I am just an amature video editor, so I need some help trying to figure out how to use a feature for video editing. I have Studio 14 HD. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I want to have a video overlay on a video....not sure if that is the correct term(s), but kinda like this:
YouTube - Final Fantasy XIII Demo -- running around and battle

I want something like that; a gauge filling up to the end, ENGLISH text in the actual bars (which I can edit, so I can put anything I want).

Also want to know if I can make the cursor (the white glove in this case) move like that, so I can tell it where to go as I edit.

Also would like to know if the above solution is also the same as adding an Xbox 360 achievement notification.
This is all assuming I have the correct software.
Thanks regardless of any future solution, and thanks for taking the time for reading my post. Heres to hoping!

I ran across this clip showing how LOOK EFFECTS did the VFX work for the recent film "Black Swan". There's some simple yet complicated work that made the character's transformation into madness look believable. Take a look and maybe you'll get some ideas of your own!

Hey everyone. I'm brand new to the forums so please be gentle. Here's my deal: I work in a mobile DJ environment. We incorporate several visual elements with our music (music videos, background video footage, live camera feed from the dance floor and custom text and graphics) that are mixed together and projected on large screens or flat screens. All of which I'm happy with except the text and text effects.

Currently, I'm using a Videonics (circa 1996) character generator to superimpose text and graphics onto the screens and as you can guess it doesn't look great. Is there another option out there that will deliver clean looking text and some cool effects that can be typed and exported in real time?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey guys! I'm a total amateur so here goes:

I have available: Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects.

What I'm looking for is adding some really neat or cool "butterfly" effects into my video. It's all shot outside - not in front of a green screen or anything.

What I was thinking was to find some kind of animated, cool 3D butterflies with a green background, set the background as my video and do that...however I can't find anything like that.

It needs to be kinda subtle, and I really want it to look like the effects in this Taylor Swift vide:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb-K2tXWK4w

Same kinda texture and all. (Look at 1:18 or so)

Does this sound like something I can do?

Hi All.

I'm pretty new to video editing and I was wondering how I should use effects in general. I use Sony Vegas Pro 9.

For exapmle, I have a 15 minute piece of video made up of various scenes...do I render all the scenes first to one file and then re-import the 15 min video as one file , then add my Magic Bullet Mojo effect just once....(and if so what file format should I use?)...or should I add the Magic Bullet effect various times to the individual clips and render the whole thing just once?

Thank you in advance.

I'm very new to this process, but I have recently begun making films with Adobe Premiere Elements, and I'm having trouble with the editing process. I have all the clips I want in the correct order, but I was wondering if there was anyway to take the effects (color correction, shadow/highlight alterations, etc.) from one clip and copy them to the others? When I try to do it manually, they are always slightly different, so when it progresses from one clip to the next, there is a noticeable change in the quality of the clip. I want all the clips from one scene to have the same feel and tint to them - is there anyway I could do this? Please help!

Charles enhanced slide show and if you have a little more time,
Alejandra & Danny's wedding. I am thinking this editor used some
plug ins but looking through all of the plug in products from Ni and
CV2 and Fx Factory, I couldn't find the plug-ins. I'm sure I can
probably create the effects from scratch, I just wanted some input on
how he created those effects. Which are the animated photo montage from
Eunice and Charles slide show and (i guess) split screen/panes effects.
If someone could help me out figuring out this it would be soooooo

Also for some reason, about every 5 - 10 minutes my mouse "pointer" gets lost on the screen. I will be editing and the pointer just disappear. It comes back afetr a few seconds. This is maddening when on deadline. I would appreciate any help anybody has. thanks

Please, Im desperate here. Mainly cuz im new at most of this. Ive "edited" videos before, by cutting and pasting clips and slow-mo effects and music to make music videos and trailers, but now i want to do more. But I need help. Ive downloaded 4 or 5 trial versions of various software and none of them have exactly what Im looking for. Granted, Im new and those programs are complicated, so maybe im just impatient. But if anyone here can help, please email me at aaron.mcdonald1@us.army.mil

Here is what i need help with:

Particles. On one trial version (Audodesk Combustion), it only lets me SEE the bottom half of the rendering when im finished, so thats not much help when it comes to making movies. Plus it took me a while to figure out how to use it. I want something to be simple, and yet can give me what i ask for. Another trial was ParticleIllusion. Tons of particle emitter library things to choose from. One problem: the timeline. How the hell do i use it? And what is up with the "background image" thing? And why is the "image" skipping around on the timeline? Yes, it may be that my computer is crap and slow and all that. But if i didnt have to download 5 trials just to make one movie, im sure my computer wouldnt be so slow. Ok, and so i put a particle thing on the image, and now how do i make it move WITH the image? and how do i make it go away? After Effects by Adobe is, so far, the most frustrating thing on the planet. The particle playground is NOT for my kind: impatient.
