I was wondering wherther anyone has experience selling their video productions (DVDs) on Amazon? We have just produced a 2 DVDs set on a "educational" subject "how to do..." and we have had good success selling on Ebay at Buy it Now feature.

To sell on Amazon you have to have a UPC ($25.00 cost on line with vendor) for your product and pay Amazon a monthly fee $39.95 to list your custom made product. I would be very interested to hear other peoples' experiences regarding Amazon.com?

Cheers,

I make roughly 300 DVDs per year, authoring on DVD Studio Pro, and printing with an Epson ink-jet printer. My question is if anyone can suggest a place to buy top-quality (TYG01) Taiyo Yuden discs.

I have been using TYG02 quality, the best quality that I have been able to find, from Supermediastore.com, and have had reasonably good luck avoiding quality issues like skipping or hesitation. (I have found from experience that anything less than TYG02 will give me problems (on my cheap "test" player - I have to assume some of my customers will not have the best players). However, on long programs (approaching 2 hours on a disc), I still have some occasional hesitation.

I encode using Compressor, and never exceed 7 MBps encode rate.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

scottclark on "What is my best option? MC5+Panasonic MiniDV preserving quality"

It is my goal to capture the highest quality video I can to burn to
Archival DVDs with my current equipment.

I have a Panasonic Mini DV PVGS120 camcorder and boatloads of wonderful movies I want to save. But this camcorder will NOT connect to any of the 4 computers I own (firewire) Believe me, I have tried EVERYTHING with multiple computers, made tons of calls, dropped messages on forums, etc. The camcorder cannot be recognized as a device and videos cannot be imported. If this would work, I would be done and happy.

So, I got my hands on a Sony VRD-MC5 | DVDirect® MC5 Multi-Function DVD Recorder, which works like a champ with my Little Panasonic. Videos transfer over, and the way I understand it, the video it creates is MPEG2. To my eye, this part of the process preserves quality of the MiniDV tapes pretty well.

But ... here's where things go wrong.

Standard Def Videos from the MC5 will not play in new Sony BluRay DVD players. MPEG2 is not listed among the compatible formats for my new Sony Blu Ray, and the disk freezes up if you insert it. Only SONY camcorders can record in AVCHD on the MC5.

So what would you do?Â

Dub the videos to the MPEG2 disks using the MC5, edit them in Corel Video Studio and then output a DVD*?Â

Buy another MiniDV camcorder that the PC will recognize (I really don't want to spend the $$$ - I have a Canon HDD/HD camcorder already)

Something I'm not thinking of?

* My cursory test of this method shows "muddy" video output (like VHS
quality) but I cannot figure out where the quality loss is happening -
or how to avoid it.

I'm exasperated. Your expert opinion is needed

Â

PLEASE CRITIQUE MY TWO VIDEOS. I just found this forum last night, and am new to video making. I truly love it, and want to learn all I can. The tips & tricks page seems to be a really great place to start. I have been learning Pinnacle on my own since January of this year when I have a chance.

I would like to make travel aid DVDS for Tahoe and Reno, etc... for sale on eBay, so, when I do I want them to be high quality with great effects. I would like to speed up my learning process now. I could use anyone's advice, and would appreciate it.

I have a Michael Jordon & Tony Romo video that I need to - hold my breath -Â edit together, and get up for sale. I find the still photo videos so much easier, and just plain fun. Video videos much harder.

Thank you to anyone & everyone who replies back!!
