This actually sounds like the type of interactive cd-rom/dvd-rom content that you would use a program like Director or Even Flash to author.

Instead of burning an authored DVD, burn a data disk containing video files along with your PDF files (I've seen this done quite often with tutorials). Since you mentioned this is aimed to be viewed on a computer, the video files should be H.264 files, which are ideal for computer viewing, but not burnable to an authored DVD since DVDs encode as mpeg.Â

 Does this make sense?Â

try posting this question at the sony media software forum. there are plenty of users over there that could help you out specifically with that project.

Yes, the user would throw onto to their computer. The menu would include videos explaining a product offering along with documentation. If not Sony Vegas, is there something else off the shelf I should be using?

interesting query... I am not sure that can be accomplished... is it the intention that these dvds will only be utilized on computers?

Can I use the Sony Vegas 9.0/DVD Architect Studio 4.5 to create a DVD menu that includes pdf or Word files? I would like to burn a DVD that automatically opens on another computer or DVD player with a menu. I cannot figure out how to do this with the Sony products where the menu could include a pdf or Word file.

Any suggestions using Sony or some other software outside of the Apple suite?

"I just got Sony DVD Architect Studio 4.5. It can do everything you have listed, plus more."

I'll second that statement. I really like DVD Architect for making a DVD.

I use Pinnacle 10 for editing my videos. Its DVD menu editor is powerful, yet it is not very pleasant to use. I don't recommend it.

Definitely try before you buy. Just about everything has a 30 day trial that you can download.

I will ask you, how do you perform an ISO test?

No problem. The formatting is probably a problem with the forum - you're not supposed to set it up!

Hi Guys,

I tried searching the forums, but the new layout is horrible (and incredibly slow) so I gave up.  So instead of seeing if this question has already been asked, I think I'm just going to ask it...

What do you guys use to make DVD menus?  I'm looking for a program, preferably free or cheap, that gives me the ability to make DVD menus with my own backgrounds and layout styles and such.  I've got my video exported to MPEG-2 so I don't need a program to convert it.  Things like the ability to make moving menus would be cool, but not absolutely necessary.  The ability to set up my own DVD chapters and also have the ability to set up something like an "extras" page (so I don't just have the main video on the disc, but in fact several other videos) is a feature I really want.

Also, I'm not sure if this an application specific, but I'd like it to be able to export to a DVD iso so I can make an iso and test with that instead of wasting DVD's.

I'm not really sure what goes on with DVD menu programs so I may have left out some key points.  Feel free to ask for any more information!  Thanks!

P.S. The new forum design needs to change!  I vote for going back to the old system that worked!
