Hello guys,

On my blog site, there's alot of articles and websites that I have recommended to help us all in regards with pre-production, production and post production. I'm new and i'm trying to create a community within my blogsite so that we all can learn from each other and compare opinions. My only dream is that someone will push us towards a newer era in film/video creativity. Let's start now.

Cisco accurately predicted cell phones killing that market segment. You can still find them on store shelves at present...

Zoom does make a nice audio recorder that has video capability...

http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/q3hd/

Now you likely won't need a seperate audio recorder or the editing skills to merge seperate audio and video... you will need a tripod though...

now, about lighting....

Cisco has discontinued it. Whats left is all that is left. I might suggest a Sony Bloggie? You can get full 1080 HD out of that (not just 720p) and the audio is better than the Flip, though you would still probably want something separate to capture that.

This type unit might very well do what you want and need, though I'm sure you realize the audio quality isn't going to be top drawer. I would, however, double check with others as they come on here because I believe Cisco, the manufacturer of the highly popular Flip series has discontinued it. Might have some bearing on what you get as it pertains to service or replacement. They are, if you can still get one, highly respected units and quite affordable.

Hi!

I am a beginner lyricist and guitarist. I want to pursue song writing, not performing. I'd like to buy a cam that allows me to share the music I've written, and video blog as well. I've looked at the flip video ultra, as it's been recommended for video blogging. What do you think about this cam for recording my songs as well? Do I need a microphone?

My humble thanks!

I never really notice how spontaneous I am until I read things like this. So much thinking and planning where I just grabbed a camera and started shooting when I started creating shows. I sometimes secretly envy the over planners of the world. Looks safe from my perspective... but for some reason safe has never appealed to me. I remember my response the first time someone asked me if I had a business plan. "to evolve as required, man." That's how I approach my shows... and life in general. I'd rather just get to work not waisting time on the planning part. There will be plenty of time for that when I retire.

Thanks vid-e-o-man, just be aware that the article "Your Own TV Network" is written by Jay, not me. Jay is kind enough to open up his blog to guest writers, and I'm proud to be included in his stable of contributors. He's a great guy and occasionally visits the forums here as well.

He is also part of my Video StoryTellers!™ program, serving as the Mississippi associate for VST, and writes articles for Videomaker magazine. That boy has been rockin' and rollin' lately and barely has time to come up for air — nice way for things to be when you're an independent professional video services provider.

I always appreciate the positive comments you have for me and others in the network, Mr. V, it is much appreciated. Hope things are going well for you.

Also, I understand about the Sheen thing — it does get old quickly. But still, Jay made a solid point about the possibilities of having your own Internet TV Network.

EarlC, I clicked on the link and enjoyed the articles on the blog. I have to admit when I saw Charlie Sheen's name I almost ducked out because I am a little tired of ...well stuff about Charlie Sheen. I got past that and read all the articles including yours and found all of them interesting and thought provoking. I would definitely recommend these articles to anyone interested in some ideas for video.

The techniques mentioned in Earl's article could very probably help anyone looking for ways to promote their video productions.

Lady Ana, here's a link with simple directions on how to set up a single webcam setup. I will add more information/resources as I can find them. Check this one to get a start for now.

THIS one is way beyond my pay scale, but it might offer you more information going in another direction.

And here's another site: "Using Multiple Cameras to Monitor Effectively" that might help you out.

I picked a few at random when I did a Google search on "How to set up multi-webcam systems" so there may be others you can check out as well.

I just LOVE a modest lady!!

I've seen one of these warts & all type of vids on the BBC I think and it was recorded on a couple of webcams kitchen and bedroom (really!!) and a camcorder in the main living area (it was open plan).

That one was also used for moving to different areas and also to give different angles of the same room (sun came through the windows so the guy had to move it) Can't remember what it was called but I do remember it was made as an art project.

I don't know whether the guy had a video mixer or whether he hooked the webcams up to two computers. As for software to edit, start at about 50euro and work upwards. When I first edited I used Serif's MovieMaker which was about that price at the time but I rapidly moved on to Avid Express Pro and now I use that or Premier Pro - both of which are a whole lot more than 50GBP!!! In between, price-wise, there are things like Pinnacle which I've never used. Or if you want to go down the Mac road, Final Cut is a top piece of software.

I saw a similar post to this but can't find what i'm looking for hence my question.

Basically i would like to utilize web cam technology to create snippets of my daily life around my home. I thought that the best way might have been to get a security system that records what the camera picks up on motion detect. I then plan to edit the shots taken & create a kind of web blog.

What equipment should i consider purchasing? I'd like indoor and outdoor cams.

Do i need specific editing software?

Can i record all cameras onto one hard disc?

Many thanks for reading and i hope to hear from someone soon.

Greetings from sunny Amsterdam.

yea i dunno what's up with that type. Tumblr uses templates and there's no option to change the font color. maybe I should look up some HTML code.

It's a beginning. Go for it. I do suggest a darker type in the bio column, very difficult to read on my computer. Will look forward to reading information on FCP there.

With linking ability virtually anything on the web is a simply click away and VERY conveniently accessible. You've probably heard of my blog at E.C. Come, E.C. Go go there and check out my rather straightforward, plain, simple approach, or randomly check others using this popular blogging tool in more elaborate ways. You click, go to the blog, and return with minimum fuss - virtually the same number of clicks and amount of effort as going to a blog originated on this forum or any other.

And, you get total control over it! For free!
