Hi! Im fairly new to both After Effects and Premiere Pro and I am currently experiencing quite a few problems.

One of them is that whenever I import a MP4-file into Premiere Pro CS5, the audio is out of sync with the video. When I view the file in VLC or in Sony Vegas I get no such problem. The problem is obviously connected to Premiere Pro having trouble with the MP4-file, but how do I solve that?

Should I convert the file to another format? If so, what is the easiest and best way to do that?

I am grateful for your help :).

As one of the many Pro and Intermediate Gurus here in the forums, I've given tons of tips and advice to tons of Amateur and newbie videomakers. It's always cool to find an Amateur or Intermediate who has the chops to put out good info that even we pro's can find useful. Here's a vid by Dave Dugdale on 'How to Greenscreen with Adobe Premiere CS5'.

Hi there,

I'm trying to find out how to do this without loosing quality. I've got to make a product show for my friend when he goes to his presentation. The video will run from a DVD to a Monitor via a HDMI to DVI cable.

Yet it seems this method causes to much quality to be lost. I'm not sure what video setup I should use.

For instance PAL DV 720x576 (16:9) which has the 1.4 pixel aspect ratio OR

use the square pixels PAL DV which is 1050x576.

Can anyone clarify which would be the best or an alternative, I was thinking maybe just creating it in 1080P then running it from a computer?

Thanks.

My Current Setup:

I have Adobe Production Premium CS4 (Premiere, After Effects, Encore etc.) and an old Core 2 Duo E6600 Processor and 2.7 gigs of RAM, running 32 bit Windows XP. I am planning on buying a DSLR in the future, but I am upgrading my computer first.</span>

I have pretty much narrowed a new system down to 64 bit windows Professional, 16 gigs of RAM and an i7 2600k processor with a 560TI graphics card (I already have the graphics card by the way). Of course I would love to get CS 5.5 or even CS6 when it comes out, but I think I will be using an intermediate codec intitally (e.g. Cineform) with CS4 to get by for the time being.

Ideally I want to be able to edit AVCHD .mov files natively and SMOOTHLY on my new computer. (I don't want glitchly, stuttery scrubbing in the preview monitor). Granted I don't think I will be able to do that with Premiere Pro CS4, but will I be able to with CS 5.5 with the Mercury Playback Engine? Of course I will be adding some graphics once in awhile, and probably a couple layers of video from time to time. I will also be doing some work in After Effects.

What I don't want:

I don't want to buy all these new computer components and not see the performance I want. </span>

1.) Can the components I have picked meet my needs?

2.) Is getting a more updated version of Premiere, After Effects etc. necessary?

3.) Is current hardware even ready for AVCHD yet? (Or should I just be using an intermediate codec anyways?)

Thank you everyone for your time!

Hello Videomaker community

I was wondering if someone knows where I can download more video transitions for Premiere Pro. Personally I'm more a 90% cut and 10% cross dissolve kind of video editor, but the type of video I'm currently editing needs some of those fancy transition effects (mostly for text and picture transitions).

If I then export the whole project to Encore and burn a DVD, does the audio for this silenced track stay turned off? Is that audio information burned to the disc?

I just licensed some wildlife footage to an educational production company.  The footage was shot with a Canon ZR200 camcorder and captured via firewire into.avi.  They want the raw uncompressed footage so they can edit it themselves.  But they don't like .avi.  I am not willing to release the original tape and cannot duplicate it so they said Quicktime format on CD or DVD would do.  How do I do this in Premiere Elements 2 with as little compression as possible?  When I choose to export to Quicktime, the multiple codecs to choose from under the advance tab and all the possible setting variables confuse me.  Someone said I would need to download Quicktime Pro to do this properly.  Is this true?  Why wouldn't a free shareware converter like Apex work just as well?   What is the best way to do this?   Can someone suggest an optimal setting in Premiere 2?  Computer is desktop Sony dual processor.  OS = Windows XP Media Center edition.  Thanks, Judy

Hi all,

Hope everyone's having a good festive season. I'm working on a project shot in HDV, and editing in Premiere Pro CS5. I've captured all of my footage from tape to my project. Each file (.mpeg), when played through VLC Media Player/Windows Media Player, has both video and audio playback and there are no problems at all. One of my files, however, when imported into Premiere Pro will not play the audio stream. I know the audio is there because it's playing fine through other players - so what's going on? My files are not 'conforming', or 'indexing' - that process is complete within Premiere. I've removed and re-imported the file, and still the problem is there. I've exited Premiere, restarted Windows, restarted the project and re-imported the file, but still no audio.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hey Gang,

I posted this in Final Cut Express as well. I'm currently editing the
first episode to a new web series that I'm creating. I rented two field
cameras from a TV station and shot the episode outside with both
cameras. When I came back to edit, one camera had recorded the footage
nicely, while the other recorded everything in a blue hue as if the
camera had a blue filter on it (But it didn't). I am now playing around
with Final Cut Express trying to get the blue hue footage to look like
the regular footage and the Color Corrector filter is not solving the
problem--either I'm not using it right or it's not up to snuff.

Does
anyone know a) how to solve my problem, b) of any software that might
solve my problem? I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5 on
my computer, but have not used either of these yet--if you can help me
resolve my problem using either of these, please let me know.

To
view the blue hue, please go to: http://www.youtube.com/totallybragging. The
first shots of the girls have the blue hue. And later on in the trailer
when Cortney says "Bragging" that's the color I'd like to have on the
blue hue shots.

If this problem cannot be resolved, I'm thinking
that I can just convert the blue footage to black and white, which might
work???

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

So really bizarro. My clip is about 6-7 minutes long shot on a 5dmk II with a mke 400 sennheiser shotgun mic. In the .mov file when played on my mac the audio is fine and complete. When I import it into CS 5.5 premiere when you play the file in either the source window or the sequence it strangely about 2 minutes in plays the audio from the beginning, looping it. The video isn't looping. It happens right after the other camera I had timed out and made a shutter noise, but that's it. Has anyone ever had something like this happen? Any suggestions on what to do??? This is driving me nuts. I restarted the program and restarted the computer, still same issue.

Hi guys, I am a new chap here and having some issues importing my media on Premier. A bit of background I am using Mac 10.7.2 and Adobe Premier 5. Shot my media on a JVC GY-HM100U and it was ingested by copying the whole folder into my computer. My video is 1080 60i the .xml file says:

dataFormat="xdvb"

videoCodec="MPEG2_VBR35M_1920_1080_60I_MP@HL" ch="STEREO_2CH"

audioCodec="LPCM16_48K"

Neither Premier nor imovie can't open the media and the error I get is that the codec is missing. I tried to convert my media using the Video Converter by iSkysoft but the quality decreased exponentially. I also tried Calibrated{Q} XD Decode, but it won't play in real time in Premier and looks choppy.

Went and downloaded the JVC HD pro clip manager but ironically it doesn't recognize the media either and the error is that is not a m4p file. JVC site and other reviews say that there is no need to wrap or transcode and the media formats are compatible with Mac which is false or I am missing something.

Does anyone have any advice how to get around this issue? Your thoughts would be highly appreciated!

Is it possible that files that were originally linked on a higher security level (like Admin level) are not going to be visible on a lower security level (like student level) when you go into a Premier Pro CS2 project and discover that all your clips are offline? When you go to the folder where original footage is stored on the computer, the folders are empty while on a lower security level.

I am teaching at a Tribal Community College where I did have access to an Admin level when my project was set up in Premier Pro. Is the reason I cannot find my links in Premier Pro CS2 because they are hidden from view at the student level access to the computer?

Is this a possible explanation?

Thank you for your help.

I wonder if anyone could advise me on what the best settings for exporting AVCHD 1080i (50i, Upper Fields first) to MPEG2 (PAL) for the creation of DVDs to be compatible with standard DVD players? The video is about 1 hour 25 minutes in length and I was wondering if I need to adjust the settings due to the length of the video? Will the quality of the image decrease the longer the video is? The main bit of information I need is this - how can I ensure that the DVD will play with the correct aspect ratio on everyone's TV? This DVD is to be sold and most people will be playing it through widescreen TVs but some maybe still play it through 4:3 sets. What aspect ratio should I export to?

Thanks in advance!

I made a sequence which matches my source video.. 640x480 @ 25fps. I imported the video and added a title.

I want to export using the YouTube HD setting. I noticed it says VBR, 1 pass. Is there a way to change to 2 or 3 pass and will that make much of a difference or not?

I recently switched from FCP to PPro CS5.5, and find that I, too, have this multicam will not "switch only video" problem.

I've unchecked "Audio follows video" in the Multicam panel menu.
In my Multicam sequence, I've locked the audio track (A1, which has the audio from MC1) -- camera #1 has the best audio.

Yet every time I switch cameras in the Multicam panel if I'm switching to MC2, MC3, or MC4 PPro adds the audio from that camera in a new A2 track in my Multicam sequence. I then need to Unlink that clip in the Multicam sequence, and delete its audio from A2.

There's gotta' be a better way...how do I switch only the video during a multicam edit?

Thanks,
fastbill

Hi I'm new to premiere pro, I have recently switched to a Mac using premiere pro from a PC running Sony Vegas.

I created a little intro clip (about 15 seconds, rendered and exported as a widescreen quicktime movie. When I view the exported clip it looks beautiful. I then try to use that clip in a new sequence but when I place the clip on the timeline it shows up at like 50% of it's size, I can resize it to 100% but then the resolution looks like crap. Any ideas why this is happening. The settings of both projects and sequences are the same, I am at a loss as to why this is happening, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Premier: How to render the mp4 from mp4 (recorded with
screen capturing tool) without quality loss for internet streaming

I’m novice in video making, but I need to make some good
quality crisp video tutorials for the internet streaming.

So I’ve stopped on mp4 format, cause it is portable and not
heavy.

I have a screen captured video with that tool 1000X750

http://www.screenr.com/

Then I’m adding some effects with After Effect.

I’m exporting that using h.264, because that is what I need
in the final version.

The quality after After Effect is great and size is good,

but I need to compose several pieces and add audio, which I’m
trying to do in Premier again using h.264.

I need the good quality video, not very heavy, because I
need to stream in on the website.. But the problem that Adobe Premier low the
quality and I’ve tried so many ways and setting and I still don’t have any idea
how the prevent that..

My current setting
are:

When I create the
project:

Display Format: Timecode

Capture format :HDV

Sequence preset: AVC-Intra 720p 30 fps (I’m not which preset to choose
when I capture video from the screen but I have tried almost all of them and just AVC helps me avoid the shaking video )

Pixel aspect Ratio: Square pixels (1.0)

When I export the
project:

Format: H.264

TV Standart: NTSC (do
I need that if I’m going to use that video just for computer not for TV.. ?)

Frame width: 1000 height:750 (do I
need the same frame size as AVC-Intra – 1280X720? )

Frame rate: 29.97 fps

Pixel aspect Ratio: Square pixels (1.0)

Profile: high

Level:5.1

Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 Pass

Target Bitrate: 6.06

Maximum Bitrate: 10.68

Please help me to find where I’m wrong.. is that possible
with some settings to get no loss quality when I render mp4 to mp4 in Premier?

Thank you guys for any help and sorry if my questions sounds
stupid as I’m really novice..

I'm having what seems like a small but critical problem trying to put a multicam edit together in CS5, so I thought I'd ask you fine folks in case you've seen this before.

I've followed the steps outlined in the Digital Producer Magazine tutorial (http://digitalproducer.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=36989-0). I successfully went through this once, but then ruined my project and had to start again.

I have my "source" sequence with 4 synced video tracks - approx 39 mins in length.

When I try to drag the "source" sequence into the new "multitrack target" sequence, it shows me I've got 39 minutes of audio track, and only 96 frames of video. I've removed all the markers and in/out points from my source sequence, yet for some reason I cannot get the full video track to appear in my target sequence.

Am I missing something incredibly obvious, or has anyone seen this sort of thing before?

Thanks very much in advance,
