Hi everyone,

I am an aspiring cinematographer and have a few questions.  i was hoping the community could drop some knowledge on me.  feel free to answer any questions, any feedback would be much apprecaited.

1)  I am wondering if there is any benefit at all to going with 60i over 60p.. it seems weird to me that a camera with 60p would have a 60i mode.. maybe it just uses less memory?

2)  also, im using FCPX.. its incredibly annoying at times but im willing to work with it.  what is everyones favorite editing software?  I used to use adobe premeire which was very versatile.

3)  does anyone have a brief description (or can lead me to a resource) that can help me decide what type of video compression i should use, be it mpg4, avchd, h.264..?  i want it to interface with FCPX (or if you recommend a different editor what type of compression would mix well with that software)

looks like a good cam.. AVCHD..?  Ive heard bad things.  I always have to convert it with Voltaic to get it into FCPX.  Would like to find a compression that doesnt necessiate a conversion from the camera to the editing.

Thoughts.. comments.. thanks!

It's always been a mystery to me why anyone would choose a camera or editor which required converting the camera footage in order to edit it!! I'm certainly no Ninja Master, but it seems to me that Premier Pro handles the widest range of native camera codecs. If you really, really want to use the Sony camera, my hunch would be that Vegas editing software would handle the Sony camera footage w/o conversion.

CMOS = rolling shutter problems; AVCHD = lotsa number crunching in a robust computer
