Unwanted digital visual distortions that appear in a video image, such as circular color patterns, jitter, blocking, ghosts, etc. - compositing
Superimposing multiple layers of video. Each layer may move independently. - compression
Reducing the digital data in a video frame by throwing away redundant information. Compression makes it possible to store reasonably large amounts of video on a hard disk. - digital video effects (DVE)
Electronic picture modification yielding specialty image patterns and maneuvers: tumbling, strobing, page turning, mosaic, posterization, solarization, etc. - digitizer
Device that converts analog video and audio into digital information and imports it onto a computer's hard drive. - FireWire (IEEE 1394 or i.LINK)
A high-speed bus that was developed by Apple Computers. It is used, among other things, to connect digital camcorders to computers. - full-motion video
A standard for video playback at 60 fields per second; refers to smooth-flowing video, similar to a VCR or television.…To View This Article
