Regulate with Color Bars on the Sony VX-1000 DV (page 2)

Reverse Regiment

This little trick on the Sony DCR-TRV7 produces a good quality, recordable, reverse motion. In either LP or SP mode, use the following key sequences: 1) press PLAY; 2) press SLOW on the remote control; 3) press the reverse frame-by-frame button (<||) once. After a brief, half-second pause, the tape will start to play a smooth, recordable, reverse slow motion. At normal speed, the reverse picture isn't smooth. But in the slow motion mode, you can switch back and forth between the reverse and forward slow motion play by alternatively pressing the forward and reverse frame advance buttons.

Sleuthing a Safe Spot

To ensure that your video storage space is far enough away from a magnetic field created by other electronic equipment try using a compass. (I found an inexpensive one at an auto supply store.) If there is any needle deflection when you move the compass around the storage area, you're within a magnetic field. If there isn't, your videos are safe!
