Lowel Ego Light

Lowel-Ego-Light

The Lowel Ego Light is a tabletop fluorescent softlight that provides professional quality lighting at an affordable price.

The Lowel Ego Light is ideal to provide lighting for desktop photography and video shoots, such as that undertaken by collectors, archivists and sellers producing images for clients or personal family history videos. It could not be simpler to use, as you simply need to plug in and switch on the Lowel Ego Light.

Using the Light

Potential uses for the Lowel Ego Light is providing extra lighting in the background for video conference calls, particularly those using webcams, as lighting can sometimes be an issue. When a little more light is needed for those family history interviews on a closed set or at a table, this light will provide you with a sufficient amount of illumination for medium head shots and close-ups. There is a screw thread at the base of the light that will allow it to be mounted on a tripod or a boom arm which will give you more options to change the angle of your lighting when considering your set up.

Features

The Lowel Ego Light contains two bulbs and runs on mains electricity, making this extremely easy to set up. It comes with brackets to enable the light to be mounted, if you prefer not to use it positioned on a table top. At approximately 2.9 lbs. (with lamps) it is lightweight, and small enough to be positioned almost anywhere, meaning it can be used in small rooms and not seem overpowering.

The level of the light output cannot be adjusted, so depending on the light level in the room you are using for your set, the Lowel Ego Light may not be quite bright enough. However, using a reflector on the opposite side of the light will insure good quality, even lighting, especially when the room you are shooting in is not very bright. The color of the light is excellent and particularly suited to indoor video.

This is a product particularly suited to those who do not need high end lighting and for those who have simple video set-ups because it is extremely easy to use, and suits digital images that are intended to be published online. It would not be ideal for use in a big studio set up as the level of light emitted is not quite sufficient for that purpose.
