The optics have been re-engineered, back focus adjustments are easier to perform, and the rotating screen motor is dampened for silent operation.

JVC's GY-HM100 camcorder records Final Cut Pro-compatible files to SDHC Class 6 memory cards (two card sockets are provided, for combined capacity of up to 64GB) in 1080p, 720p and 1080 formats. The camcorder features a 35Mbps MPEG-2 encoder and ships with a Fujinon 10:1 lens with manual and automatic focus and aperture controls. Audio is recorded as uncompressed PCM, and the camcorder includes two XLR mic inputs with phantom power.
